Did You Know You Can Edit Your Post in MyLot?

Perhaps I'm the last person to know this but we can still edit our post after it's written? Who knew? Yeah, instead of hitting the "start discussion" button, just hit the "preview discussion" button first. You can still edit there. Hopefully this great knowledge will help someone.

But doesn't this apply only to discussions that are about to be posted but haven't been posted yet? Personally I wish there was a way to edit to edit our responses because sometimes I see silly mistakes in my responses and feel really stupid when I post something and think hard about it and then I feel (probably dramatizing a little too much) that my entire post is ruined by a single, silly spelling or grammatical mistake.

You're right shadowsky. Not much help if you've already posted it. There's just no way to edit a posted comment or topic. I wish there were.

Yes indeed. It's only good if we don't publish the post. Any errors after that will cause undue anxiety. But it's probably no big deal. MyLotters are very forgiving and we all do it. I just post a comment saying what I really meant to post. But I agree ... wish we could edit after we publish the post.

Yes,I feel that this is not such a big problem, because even though it makes me mad it's not treated as it would be on pretty much any other place on the internet.I've said this many times but the community here is just different.Nicer.More forgiving. So as long as the mistakes are not in facts and don't change the point of the response I feel it's OK to make an involuntary mistake. The thing I like about MyLot is the fact that it's for everyone so grammatical and spelling errors are forgiven because not everybody here has perfect or near perfect English and they don't need to.

You're not the last person, I assure you, 'coz it's probably me! XD I posted a discussion about it too, asking if there's a way to either delete or edit a post. I've got answers about deleting posts to be impossible and I respect that, but no one had told me it could be edited. Thanks for this because it helped me, and probably more newbies out there too. :D

You're welcome. And once or twice I wished we had the right to delete our own posts. One time my post came up two times. I have no idea how it did that but I couldn't delete one of them. Oh well, at least we can edit.

Yes, most of us know who have been here a while, if you do this before you hit Post you can make corrections and even to your responses you are about to post. The biggest problem is most of us do not take the time to consider doing this so we have discussions and responses with Errors in them and then just always have to hope for the Best from there.

Yeah, not too many of us want to take the time to proof read. But, from now on, I think I will take the few extra seconds. It's probably worth it.

hi gtargirl yes I knew that but on the start discussion one too,I did not see that and I had one colossal error on my last discussion. will check more carefully the next time as its embarrassing to make a big error on a discussion you make for all to see. lol

Although, like someone has already mentioned, MyLotters are very forgiving. But I know what you mean.

I've been around for a while but I didn't realize this. . .I will try it right now!. . . . Ha! It works! Thanks for reminding us about this feature--very helpful for those of us who make silly spelling errors!

Yeah, I just don't like it when I see a typo in my own discussions. Just the way I roll.

I even thought you were talking about after posting! Who has time to preview posts, I bever hit that button. And knowing I could do that with that button is so old school

Mmmm, you sound a little annoyed. So sorry. And it's very obvious you don't hit the preview-post link. Why is it old school by the way.
