Sexy with Class seems to be outdated these days

I was at the local Dairy Queen last night, sitting in the car with my hubby as we were eating our ice-cream. There was a group of young girls that walked-in, I'd say teenagers, maybe 17-19 years old or so. They were all dressed up in little black dresses but they all looked trashy! What is it with young girls these days that they lack class so much when dressing up? I understand that they want to look good, show off their curves and assets but must they look sleazy as well? Don't get me wrong, there is absolutely nothing wrong with a short, little black dress. I've seen some very nice ones on young girls these days. However the majority of them look like the ones last night. Don't they have someone that can advise them on what looks good? There's a big difference between looking sexy with class and looking like a hooker who belongs on the street corner looking for cheap tricks.

Yeah I agree with you. It sad to see so many young girls who look like this. Obviously they don't have anyone mature to advise them about this or they don't listen to those who do. If my daughter even thought of dressing like that I would set her straight about what is proper to wear. As they often say Victoria has no Secrets and that is the case when many girls dress the way they do. I want my daughter to be mature and dress nice. Like you mentioned you can dress nice and not look trashy.

I agree with you. A lot of girls look like they belong in a strip club. The sad part about it is more and more of them are very young. I'm surprised that the young ones parents let them dress like that. Until my daughter is no longer a minor or living under my roof she will not dress like that.

Well thank goodness I don't have any daughters so don't have to worry about this. I wouldn't like it if one of my sons brought home a girl that dressed like that. There is such a thing as dressing for the occasion and these girls looked like they belonged in a strip club. Maybe they should listen to those a little bit more mature and take some pointers about dressing with class.

This is just something that I used to observe and have even done an experiment on when I was in that age group. A lot of guys in that same age will not even give the girls a second look or the time of day unless they are dressed like that. A decent guy will, but maybe these girls don't know any decent men or choose to ignore them. If that is the case, maybe they need to be better educated about the kind of guys they associate with .

Yes although those girls probably don't even realize that's what these guys are thinking about.

Well, if they're old enough to dress that way then they should be old enough to realize what the guys are thinking. And it's probably those very same girls that complain that guys only want one thing. Duh!

I grew up in the province with a little conservative culture. But when I moved int he big city I was amazed when I saw most of the teenagers are dressing lousy and sleazy. How come their parents allow them to dress like that. I think it depends also on the environment where they grew up. There's a big difference on where I brought up by my parents and where I was in the big city. The environment influences most of the teenagers.

True, environment does make a difference, as do your peers at the age. By the time girls get to be teenagers their parents have very little influence over how they dress. You can still live in a big city and dress with class though.

I know how you feel, I don't get that either, it seems that teens these days don't really care what others think and are so desperate of attention that they're ready to just take off their clothes the first sight of a male person. Whew! Why? I don't really know. I think mine is the last generation of classy women who are professional and don't see the need to show these things in order to get attention. Whew! girls these days are too vulgar. Have a great MyLot experience ahead!

Vulgar, yes. Good way to describe it. I'm not saying that ALL young girls are dress like that but it sure seems to be a good portion of them.

Sad that you could not enjoy your ice cream. Who would, with a scenery like that! But these girls may not be having class at all in the first place and for all you know could be " hookers who belong on the street corner looking for cheap tricks"

Well, it didn't prevent me from enjoying my ice cream, it was just something that I noticed, that's all.

I agree with you. This generation of young women wears dresses that are way too short and shirts that are way too tight and are quite revealing. I often yell at my 23-year-old daughter that what she has on is too tight and that the northern states are sticking out way too much. She tells me that's just how they dress now. I think she looks really trashy dressing that way too.

Well we've probably all worn short skirt/dresses in our time but there are short, sexy little dresses with class and then there are ones with zero class. It seems that the girls today have no clue as to what the difference is. And just the fact that you see them walking down the street tugging at the dress tells you something doesn't it?

look what parents have to content with as role models now a days. we've got britney, and rhianna...even beyonce. you can't even say that the parents should be controlling what the kids are wearing, because they sneak out. i remember i used sneak into things my parents didn't want me to wear.

That's true, some kids do sneak out in clothes their parents wouldn't want them to wear. I've also known some kids, and my generation did it as well, who left the house in one outfit and changed at their friends place before going out. Maybe the so called role models are not the best these days but that can be said for any generation. Besides that, their onstage costume is one thing but from what I've seen most (not all) celebrities know how to dress to suit the occasion i.e. awards shows, public appearances etc.

hisuebee y es sexy with class is not seen as often as it should be and I think alot of young girls equate too short and cheap with looking sexy. to me when they wear their dresses so short they c nnot bend over at a water fountain without showing their underwear thats sleaze and could get them in trouble as if they look like hookers they are going to attract unwanted Johns. There are cute dresses and hooker dresses and they need to know the difference
