Have you ever been arrested?

Getting arrested by the police must be one of the scariest experiences I can think of. I'd be scared to death getting cuffed and stuffed into a police car. Has anybody here ever been arrested and care to share what it's really like?

Hello :). I have been arrested but let go, and it's not the end of the world. It's certainly not a pleasant experience, but it's not like you are gonna get crucified or burned alive, so you can get over it. It looks more scary than it is too, and in places that use the US law system, the arrests have a lot of "formalities" that the police have to follow and breaching these means that lawyer will use these technicalities to get you out quickly, so you are pretty much safe. So it's not that bad, and if it ever get to the point of being bad you will get used as an example by human right groups, which means becoming kinda famous :p.

I have been arrested on more than one occasion for non-violent offences and for mental health issues. In my country, people who are mentally ill can be arrested and taken to a hospital, for those wondering. Firstly, I would say that it is humiliating, no matter the situation. The police can be rough if they perceive you as resisting arrest. If you are apprehended for mental health issues, you could find yourself hand cuffed to a chair in a psychiatric emergency room or fully restrained in a bed, depending on how combative you are. You may find yourself beaten up a bit. Being processed for an offense is also unpleasant. Your hands are coated with a messy black ink for fingerprinting and you have a mug shot taken. If you have tattoos, each of your tattoos may be photographed as well. The mug shot is rarely flattering. If you go to a holding cell, you will have a stainless steel bed with no blanket, a stainless sink mounted on the toilet tank with no shoes. Then there is sometimes the court process which is also humiliating. Some people don't mind this kind of experienence but I am someone who has learned from it. I don't like being arrested and I don't think that it is cool. You are right, it is terrifying. I certainly don't recommend it.

I have never been arrested, but I have known plenty of people who have, and the worst thing to do is to resist arrest because then that'll just make the police more angry and it'll make them want to hurt you, or worse, kill you.

My neighbor got arrested for a DUI (again). They are being very hard on him. After 6 months in jail they allowed him to come home. But now he is under house arrest for an additional 6 months. And he has to pay $10 a day for the "privilege". He can only leave his property to walk his dog twice a day, and to look for work. And he has to call a officer each time he wants to do these things. His license was suspended for 1 year but he has a permit to drive to work. They are making things as difficult for him as they can to make sure that this doesn't happen again.

I've never been arrested before, but I've had a few encounters with cops before when I was younger. Things like being at the park with my friends playing basketball after hours and they would come out there and tell us to leave, nothing serious. I've seen my cousin get arrested a few times as well. The thought of it is pretty scary to me also. I love having my freedom and once you are arrested, it's gone.

i got 1 time in singapore when i went to the night club with friends. Polices came and catch all women in that club in a room, they asked to see my passport, etc... However, i got free after 5 minutes because my friend, 1 sing guy showed my name card and told to the police. In fact, i was not scary at all, i am the guest of that club...

Nope, I've never been arrested. I am a good boy.:) However, one time, in a german airport, I almost got arested. 2 guys were asking me to give them my luggage and passport, but I didn't belive they were from the authorities and I declined, That made me look kinda suspicious to them, however after some talk, and after showing me their id's twice:P, I let them go through my luggage and all turned out ok.

What is it like to be arrested? You have the right to remain silent. You have the right to attorney or one can be appointed. Do you understand these rights? Well, isn’t that most silliest things you ever heard? If you really do have the right to remain silent then why do you need to respond? Don’t get smart and just answer the question. Do you understand these rights. Stop giggling. Do you think this is funny? Answer the question.

never, I am always a good children. I would be quite scared if I was arrested. I consider that the life at the prison is murky and tough, even danger just like that in "Prison Break".

No I have never been arrested. I wouldn't like to try either. I watch shows on Tv and people getting arrested and I would probably panic and either go off on the police or start running, so I shouldn't be arrested, LOL.

I have never been arrested and I would like to avoid it! :) One of my friends has been arrested for driving when he was drunk, but he was released the next day. It's not very strict here with suck small offenses and most of the times you just get a ticket and they let you free. But my friend that got arrested was really really drunk and they kept him in the police station overnight.

I've been caught Jaywalking or not using the designated pedestrian crossing. It's really a petty crime, but I was in a hurry to get on a passenger jeepney(type of public transportation), and I didn't think that the traffic enforcers were very strict at that area. They tend to be inconsistent, so you'd never know when and where you could get caught violating traffic rules. And, I was only 10 years old, that time, so I pleaded and after a few minutes, the traffic enforcer just let me go and made me promise not to do it again.
