I think I have insomnia, i can't fall asleep easily. I don't know what to do. :( Usually, it takes me an hour to sleep after lying in bed. What to you usually do when your body isn't tired enough to fall asleep?

I also have problems falling asleep. But one day i discovered an iPhone/Android app called "Fall asleep with Andrew Johnson". Its all about making your muscles relax so you will fall asleep much easier. And i fall asleep in just a couple of minutes every time i listen to it. I highly recommend this app to anybody who has an iOS or Android device. Even though you don´t even have problems falling asleep. Im sorry if you don´t own an iPhone or Android device.

I don't own a device like that. Sometimes, I do texting while I'm lying in my bed but I don't work.

I seldom have this problem. Most times, I choose to go to bed only when I feel tired. why not spend more time in here until you are tired then go to bed?

Hi, That is a very common problem for all of us , not able to sleep even after lying down . Maybe that was why Mylot was started n the first place, a cure for insomnia. it allows us to rejoin the world, listen to their problems ranging from the simple to the most ludicrous, reflect on them and find parallels in our own life and yet earn money off your insomnia. If you fall asleep while reading you got your solution and if you do not you will end up entertaining your friends with some funny and responsible answers to discussions and make money too. Well it is a win win situation. God bless.

If you can't sleep night after night it may be due to the following reasons: do you drink lots of coffee and have coffee last thing at night? Caffeine is a stimulant and found in coffee and can be the reason some people feel anxious at night. If you are anxious you definitely want to address it. Try the following: if you are able to soak in a nice hot tub just before bed, do some deep breathing where you inhale slowly and exhale even more slowly. These tips will tell you if your insomnia is due to stress and anxiety or something else.

Perhaps you need to find the reason why you aren't able to fall asleep easily. Does this happen regularly? If so, it might be a sleeping disorder. It would be a good idea to go to a sleep specialist to have it checked. Or does it only happen when you have something on your mind? Perhaps you're worried about something and that worrying is keeping your from falling asleep easily. You could also have excess energy. Maybe you did something that excited you and is keeping your awake. It's best to know the reason of why you can't easily fall asleep in the first place. There are the usual temporary solutions of course such as warm milk or warm herbal, non-caffeinated tea, a hot relaxing bath or shower, and counting sheep (or anything repetitive enough to make you sleepy). You can also trying taking melatonin supplements an hour before going to bed. Some studies also say that using the computer or devices with brightly lit screens right before bedtime prevent the brain from going to "sleep mode". I usually have no problem with this, but to be safe, I'd say stay away from them about an hour before going to sleep. Hope these suggestions help.

If you're really not tired enough to sleep, maybe you're going to bed too early? Try staying awake another hour. You could be too tired, though and in that case you need to relax before you go to bed. Try drinking chamomile tea, taking a warm bath, reading until you fall asleep. I sometimes have trouble falling asleep because my mind won't turn off and I keep thinking of things I need to do the following day. When that happens, I get a notebook and write everything down so I won't forget. Mostly, they're things I wouldn't forget anyway, but I need to write them down to get them out of my head!

Lack of sleep? Follow the golden rule: go to bed only when you feel like falling asleep.Keep your mind fresh and wipe out all causes of tension..forget the unwelcome experiences during the daytime...walk a few steps after dinner.Retire to bed peacefully leaving little spaces for worries of any nature and type. Feel completely relaxed.Contemplate on deep slumber as you might have to wake up in the morning and face fresh challenges.

Now a days I don;t have my proper sleep. Usually I used to fall in sleep easily when I am in bed but now I have to lie for hours to get a nice sleep. I don't why I am facing so. May be it is due to the climate problem. Usually I used to make use of my mobile phones to hear songs at that time. Songs are the medicines which helps me to fall in sleep easily.

Our body and mind follow a circadian rhythm always. But as the science advanced to form internet we failed to follow it. It is the important reason for insomnia for many people especially to youngsters. Also the food habits changed a lot and made our body unhealthy.

I know what you need. Join a health club, or even better yet, get yourself a treadmill. Walk on it for at least 30 minutes to 45 minutes, and do it at least three times a week. Or, if you like, do weight-training or something else. Walking is what works best for me. I do it 5 times a week because it helps relieve stress, but working out has been shown to knock you out fast when you hit the sack. And it's not light sleep either. No, it's deep deep sleep! But working out has other benefits that you might like as well as the deep sleep that you'll experience. It relieves stress so it's great if you have a lot of job related stress. It also clears your mind of the stress induced cobwebs that clouds thinking, so that you think quicker on your feet, solve problems better, and turn you from a grumpy Gus, to a nice Ned (if you're having anger management issues). Deep sleep, less stress, better mood, plus fast thinker? Sounds like a winner to me.

I try diverting my mind by letting myself get busy into something.a warm bath can further add on to my relaxation.

For me counting backward or counting imaginary sheep helps. Just count thinking you are in between a big heard of sheep and counting them one by one. You should get the desired result. Reading a news paper or boring book may also help.

Is your body/mind not tired or too tired? Might be you have a different bio ritme. This besides of the fact we all don't sleep the same kind of hours through the whole year. The more sun there is and light the less we sleep. If you can't fall asleep after 1 hour get out of your bed for a while. Don't do exiting things like watching tv, sitting behind your computer etc since this and the light will confuse your brains. So sitting in the dark is the best way, relax, have positive, happy thoughts and try it again after an hour.

Many times its hard for me to fall asleep easily, maybe because of too much thinking of some family matter. But what I usually do, I drink one glass of warm water, take a warm bath and after that listen to my favorite music while brushing my hair. Then after a few minutes i felt well relax and sleepy.
