Sunday~Internet

India

I access internet using my BSNL land phone. The cables are all underground now, no more overhead wires on poles; there is a distribution pole near my home, from a junction box there, two wires come to my home phone; I use a BELKIN make modem to connect my computer, laptop, my daughter in law’s computer, my son’s computer. On Sundays it runs so slow like a tortoise, but on other days fast like a Leopard. The officers, line man are known to me; so I always complain them, the officer on duty in the switch room says , no problem at that end, so they send a line man to my home, he does some testing, finds no problem here; goes out to the junction box, cleans the contact point there, the speed is better. He says there was ‘carbon’ a term they use for ‘oxides’ on the contact points. Well he may be right. But my question is why net is slow on Sundays, and my answer is, it is due to more users, but guess I am wrong, because most offices, institutions are closed; thus users are less. What is your say on this? How you access internet? Is it slow on Sundays? HAPPY WEEK END TO ALL. Thanks in advance. Professor ‘Bhuwan’. . 20/05/2012

Professor Sir: nice discussion. you have raised the issue and answered it partly.,Sundays people who access internet will be less because offices, banks are closed. May be on account of lose connection speed is low. I use airtel 4 mbps unlimited package -- now I use it thro wireless -- two of us use internet at the same time --speed is 4.32 mbps. it is good. Sir, you may be aware of deleting temporary files. recently i was informed of glary pc utility--tnro mylot http://www.glarysoft.com/products/utilities/glary-utilities/ i downloaded and installed. performance has improved considerably. you can also try Sir. good day.

tHE lOVE: airtel 4 mbps unlimited - costs Rs.1395 p.m plus taxes. roughly Rs. 1600. download allowed 30 gb. normally we do not download that much. over and above that speed will become 256 kbps. such a situation has never happend in the last eight months. where are you residing? i understand bsnl also is giving good internet connections speed.

Raviji As i said i access via landphone, i need landphone because most calls come in it, the number is printed in my visiting card, moreover as senior citizen i enjoy special discount, i pay 665.00 only for UNLIMITED download per month, this includes the discount if paid via net. I always delete temporary files while closing my pc/laptop.

I think on Sundays, there are a lot of internet users too, professor. For those who are free from their offices that day, it is their day for updating their facebook and other personal internet accounts, so the traffic also on Sunday. I am amazed that the cables in your place are all underground and no more overhead wires. How i wish that it will be that way in our province too already. But as to our internet connection, they are already WIFI.

Well, that's a nice suggestion, but i think he will find it tiring because he will still bring his laptop. But not if it's a tablet.

We have a cable modem that provides the internet into our home and for the most part I have to say that ours runs really, really good. It will support two wired computers, two laptop computers that access the internet through the air and also an Xbox that we use to play video games or to watch movies on netflix. There are times, however that I do find that it runs a little bit slower than usual and I do tend to think that is because other households are using their service more than usual.

Internet technology is avaiable now in various met - Easy to get connected but cost money.
Internet is my place comes in many forms , but basically are broadband either by land wire or 3G broadbands, there are also the Wifi Hyrid WLAN broadband type where they shot signal around like 50 km radius to share the bandwidth with subscribed customers.Lately there is new hybrid fibre optic connection to the household customer , which promise better connection , the wired are underground hence better quarantined connectivity.

I also used to access internet by the same way. Here I don't face such problems. I feel I have an average speed on almost on all the days. Here in my region there is a lot of cafe and most of them will be closed. Even the cafes are closed I don't find any improvement in my speed. It doesn't matter that I have a very slow. I am quite happy with it. Well may be the traffic on your regions may be huge on Sundays . This may be the reason for it.

The speed on the internet varies depending on your modem, the speed of your service, and yes sometimes how many people are online.... including those in your household. I think the household bogs it down more than anything so if there are multiple users and say I'm on here mylotting and my hubby is streaming a movie... my internet experience is much slower to load as well. Though I will disagree with you more there are more people online on the weekends and evenings. Just because offices may be closed doesn't mean that they are allowed to go online at work and if so are limited. They go home and watch movies, videos, ect on the weekend and surf then on their own time.

It is the same here. When more people are home, with free time, they are on the internet. My husband constantly complains about it. I tell him, the more people on line, the slower it will be. It's like plugging in too many electronic equipment onto one circuit. There is only so much "power".

WEll, since they checked it on their end, I am guessing they probaby schedule some sort of maintenance during the slower times. to me that is all that makes sense, since there should be fewer users on the line and it's always on Sundays. But other than that I have no clue.

Dear Sir, On Sunday the users of BSNL Broadband connection is much more than weekdays. Almost non of the Private company use BSNL connection. And in offices download are allowed to only a particular work group of people (like managers, system and network administrators etc.), which means most of them can only browse the web. In weekends BSNL users like me use broadband to an unbelievable extent. Example: My dad works in Ordnance Factory and till 3 years we used to stay in Quarters in the Defence Colony. On weekend when we were in home we used to use BSNL Broadband for download almost everything. On Saturdays and Sundays I used to download 15 to 20 GB of data from the Internet. It was same in case of my friends who were residing around me. Whereas in weekdays we hardly used to browse. On times during weekdays when I used to be at home, I used to find that the internet is faster than weekends.
