Since all of our computers are internet connected, we could not resist opening our facebook account. There was a time when my officemate opens her facebook account without knowing that our boss is outside and watching her doing her fb stuff, then suddenly the boss said whooa your caught, then she realized it was the boss. Her face turned red and was shucked, and then turns to me telling me why I did not told her that the boss is there, All I said, I wasn't able to see that she is already there I only heard what she said when she caught you. Now, everytime she opens her facebook account she is now very vigilant. That everytime we think about the time she was caught, we could not stop but laugh. What about you? Do you do stuff in your office other that office works then got caught by your boss? Take time to share your experience also. Have a nice day.

I am able to do mylot at work annd i only do so during break times and if i have nothing much to do. =) i do not like to be caught doing something like facebooking at work because this image of you will be hard to be erased from your boss' mind. I am so sure they will probably suspect you do other things as well that is if they are not looking at you.

That is also what I thought, that is why I do have my own internet connection in our house and I do make sure to do office stuff only when I am at work, and other stuff I do it in our house. So far, I believe I am doing well in my job. And I don't like be caught also by the boss doing different things, I still do need my job anyway. Good day!

In our office, facebook is allowed. So quite a few of us surf either early in the morning or late in the evening. But generally during the normal business hours we avoid surfing the internet for non-work related matters. Usually the managers do not mind people taking some time off, but if they find someone doing something continuously over a period of time and his/her performance dropping, then they will have a quite word with that person. Cheers! Ram

Good for you facebooking is allowed in your work. Maybe we could consider set time do not office related stuff so that we could avoid being caught by the boss.

It is very hard when we're at work to be able to resist the temptation of turning to our social networking websites, particularly when we're having to sit at our computer for the whole of the day. However, the important thing that we have to remember is that our boss is paying for us to be in that job, and we shouldn't be doing anything that takes any time or effort away from the company that we're working for at that point. Even if this means that you have to put a block on your internet access so that you can resist the temptation, it would be more than worth it for you in the long term.

I do use facebook and other sites while in the office. And the first time my boss caught me using facebook was so funny. I can still remember, I was asked to autocad all the printed architectural plans and so I did. My eyes are tired and kinda bored then, so I decided to check my accounts online and one of these is my facebook account. I went to C.R. and forgot to log out nor minimized it. When I went back to my seat, from 3 feet far, I saw my boss seating on my chair. I'm really nervous, so I came close to her slowly. And when I'm inch away from her, she said, "Hey, I added myself on your facebook account. I'll accept you later when I open my account" . I feel relieved and wow, I realized its not just me who used to do that. Ha Ha Ha. :)

Many coimpanies here block such sights and most sites except those used for work. Ive never had a job that entitled a computer so I have my cellphone. But my bosses dont seem to mind just as long as I work. If I was caught once I wouldnt continue to do it, especially if my job was on the line.

I like reading so I have Ebooks in my files and whenever I don't have any chats (customer service) I read them. I've never been caught by any of my bosses but there was this time in our department that they fired more than 5 employees because they were caught using the internet for other things except work.

I usually tend not to do things my boss would not approve of. The last thing you would want to do is introduce a computer virus through your companies network, and endanger the companies ability to do business. I imagine if you asked permission the boss wouldn't mind as long as you didn't abuse the privilege.
