teddy bear, safety blanket, favorite pillow, He-Man figurine... call it what you want to, but we all had it at some point in our younger days. that one item that we always held on to tightly when we curl up to sleep at night. for some of us, we even brought it around with us everywhere we went. regardless of where you came from, or what you are now, i'm sure that you had that one thing that you always kept with you that gave you a sense of comfort & security...for me, it was my teddy bear so much time has passed for me since then. all grown up now (well, kind of grown up ). and the older i get, the more nastier the world seems. natural disasters, economic mishaps, rising cost of living, parking tickets, peanut butter and no jelly... they all add up. and the stress can get really unbearable sometimes, which makes me wish i could just lie under the covers and curl up with my teddy bear. i wish it was still here. i smile whenever reminiscing of those times when i had nothing to fear because i had my teddy bear with me. mom.....where's my teddy bear?

I am not your mom, but if you keep looking I am sure that you will find your teddy bear, although you might not recognize her at first ... just close your eyes and give her a squeeze and I am sure that you will know her when you bump into her.

Oh no! If you are squeezing the wrong thing, then perhaps you should open your eyes ... then again, maybe you don't really want to know what it is you have been squeezing for all this time.

Aww... That's actually cute! :) :P I am actually still young right now, I mean I study in 10th grade. So, even now, sometimes I prefer sleeping with a teddy bear or my Barbie doll! :D When I was a kid, I slept with them almost everyday and played with them throughout the day. And those days were surely wonderful! But now, I don't find much time to play with my Barbie doll or teddy. And even if I get time to do so, my sisters will taunt me! Lol! So, I don't play with them now, but sometimes when I am bored , or find my teddy or Barbie to be around, I sleep with them. And whenever I do that, I feel really happy! It gives me some sort of amazing feeling. And I guess your teddy bear might be in the garbage bin or you might have actually kept it safely somewhere, you don't remember. Lol ! ;)

Hey mario_stevens, :) I think almost every girl plays with a Barbie doll in her childhood! :D I was just kidding. Your teddy might be in your home lying somewhere. You should try checking out places. And @stowyk, yes you are right, maybe his mother gave it to somebody!

Hi Mario, First, I am glad to hear from you. True, I am not a regular myLotter either. Well, I think all my endeavours of stepping out of my comfort zone as little as possible is my (adult?) teddy bear. But here's a more cheerful story. I have a one-and-a-half years old lovely little dog. She has some toys, a ball, and a soft mop. Originally I kept it on the lower shelf of the coffee table to dust the furniture once in a while. One day she found it and she keeps it in her bed ever since. Last month my sister came to visit me and my doggy decided to spend the rest of the night on her bed. Just to be on the safe side, she brought her mop into the bed. In the morning I found her sleeping at my sister's feet with her mop under her head.

Hi Mario, I wanted to upload a photo of my doggy for you, but have just learnt from FAQ, it is not possible under rating of 500. I am afraid she will grow much older until then. I hope you enjoy a lovely summer now.

Hey Mario ... You awake from the long sleep !!! Seen you after long time. He he.. Those old memories are always joyful... Even I am having one, but it isn't teddy.. It is pillow which I always used to keep with me on my bed.. (not all time as I give it some holidays when I am away from home).. Yes.. Current Life in compare of past is surely stressful. And yes sometimes we all feel like that. You should come here if you feel stressful, I am sure you will feel relaxed with friends.. Make mylot your teddy, but I am sure we will not allow you to sleep..

For bulky, you can use it through laptop or mobile.. For hotness, try keeping some ice with it, be careful you will get shocks but it will keep you active here.

I can relate to what you're saying here. Growing up, I had a teddy bear who was my best friend. Like the velveteen rabbit, this bear was quite worn out by the time I reached official adulthood. I counted on that teddy bear many frightful nights, and had many serious conversations with it. I kept my teddy bear until about four years ago when he was violently stolen from me in act of jealous revenge that I still mourn.

oh no...an act of violent revenge? that does sound awful i wish my mum hadn't thrown out my teddy bear..i would have kept it with me all these years. a little piece of my personal history that i wouldn't want to give up..

yeah...i do know almost exactly how you feel. we constantly push ourselves to move forward, but it's those sweet moments of the past that we sometimes long for. good memories and good moments long gone but never truly forgotten

I have found that the older I get I sometimes long for some little momento of my past. My Teddy Bear represented that for me. At least we have the memories.

Mine was a lion. I still have him. In fact, that's him I'm hugging in my profile picture. His name is Left-Leg. He's old now. As you say, the world is a harsh and bitter place, and even more so as you grow up. I guess that as our protective stuffies get older, their magic gets weaker so its harder from them to protect us like they once did. It would be nice to go back to a simpler age, when your "teddy bear" really could always make things better.

hiya nonersays yup...i wish that i had that delorian in "Back to the Future"...then i'd really be able to go back and experience those sweet memories all over again cute looking teddy you have there...may i ask, why is it that his name is Left-Leg?

I know that for a lot of people the teddy bear is a cherished first momento of childhood. For me it was not a teddy bear. What i clung to in my childhood was stuffed dog with silky ears. i took it with me every where i went. I wore the ppor thing out dragging it all around. Even now i think of that dog fondly.

hiya sender bear, cat, dog...most of us did actually have some affection to a stuffed animal back then . i brought mine almost everywhere i went too...my mum used to joke that she could always tell where i've been by checking out the markings or smells of my teddy

I want my teddy bear too. Now, with 'not stimulating' office environment, friends taking advantage of you, dream of travelling that is likely gone in a puff, I want my teddy bear to let me dream of everything comes true... I don't think my English makes sense...

Oh I still have my own teddy bears until now. Not really exactly teddy bear but a heart pillow and my own rectangular pillow in my bed. These pillows whenever I cuddle them gives me comfort and security. I just always feel like cuddling pillows.

hiya butterscotsh! it's so cool when we come to think about it...for almost everyone out there, they would immediately feel such sense of comfort & security when they hug. we can hug others, we can hug our pets, and if we're all alone even a pillow would do i wish that i could give my teddy bear a big, tight hug right now...it'll make me feel so much better

What a sweet post, thank you for sharing. For me, my security blanket was my teddy 'Sheila'. A red and grey teddy that was my first gift for Christmas from an auntie when we first moved to Ireland. I still sometimes cuddle up with her, we need something to block out the bad and Sheila does that for me. She's soaked up many, many tears!

thanks...it's always nice to share here on myLot i've been window shopping recently, and it's such a coincidence for me to stumble upon a teddy that really reminded me of the one i had. i almost bought it on impulse, but i thought to myself that there won't be anything that can possibly replace the teddy that i had before. it may look the same, but it won't be the same....and it would smell different too! but then again, i still do wish i had my old teddy back again...no matter what happened to me back then, it was always there for me. it was practically my first best friend

Well said mario_stevens, Sheila could never be replaced, she knows all of my secrets, happy times and worries. I used to hate it when my mother would wash her as she'd always smell different, but she was still her. A different Teddy just would not be the same!

I don't like stuff toys ever since so I cant remember hugging my teddy bears. But like you said, I do have a fave pillow when I was young and I love holding and hugging it everywhere. it's been a long time since I last saw it. I believe my mom already gave it away. How sad...

hiya Chikazz! i had a favorite pillow too...but it was no replacement for my teddy. now that i've mentioned it, i've always wondered what happened to my old pillow.. i think my mum couldn't give it away, she had to pay someone to take it instead

Well, I feel comfort when I am with my siblings, no particular items to cling on. But, I am fond of having toy soldiers. I used to put them under my pillows. There are some notions, that only girls acquires stuff toys way back then. But now, every child can have it.
