France scored an impressive 2-0 win over hosts Ukraine. The match started with a storm breaking into the stadium which suspended the game for few minutes. When the players returned, the first half was competitive, but there were no goals. Menez opened the scoring after excellent movement from the French on the 53rd minute. Cabaye doubled the score on 56 minutes with a clinical finish. Cabaye had a chance to score another as he hit the post with his attempt. At times the French play was very incisive and they could have had a lot more goals in this game. Finally a impressive performance from France in a major tournament after a long time and they have one foot in the knockouts. Cheers! Ram

France looks like at least a semi-finalist. But one thing to mention is Benzema. While many are talking about the poor form from the likes of RVP and Baros, no one have mentioned anything about the Frenchman. As a striker, he has zero goals thus far. He is lucky that the likes of Nasri, Cabaye and Menez has been contributing the goals. If he does not do it soon, the spotlight will fall on him.

Yes, France's midfield is a goal scoring one and that is covering for the French striker. But the way Cabaye and Nasri are playing, I do not think they will have a dearth of goals. Cheers! Ram

In India we have a saying which goes "Badnaam hue tho kya hua, naam to hua" meaning so what if we are in the news for all the wrong reasons, at least we are in the news!! Cheers! Ram

But when Benzema starts scoring goals, the spotlight will also start falling on him :) Do or not do also the same! :)

Ukraine actually fared quite pale in the match, but it was really heavy rain.

Yes at the time of starting there were plenty of rain. I thought the match is not going to play yesterday. After sometime rain gone off. If it was raining we would have really missed the stunning performance of France. We could expect much more performance from them in the next matches .

France is just rocking in the Euro cup 2012. It seemed to be a one side game. France were playing good with their foots. They were all around the ground with their full potential. Ukraine was completely helpless under the massive attack of france. I could say that if they are continuing these kind of performance, they will be there in the finals .

I thought it was more like almost an hour of delay. I fell asleep before the game, and when I woke up I thought I've missed the first half when actually it was still suspended. Anyway, great result for the French team; hopefully they'll move forward to the knockouts stage.

The match was delayed for close to 30 minutes due to the rain. That is why you still got probably the whole match. Cheers! Ram

Congratulation to the French. It shows that they have slightly moved on from their worse ever world cup showing in South Africa. Despite this, i still don't see the French goes beyond the quater finals. The new players like Nasri, Cabaye, Benzema has still not really gel and shown that they could emulate the French team of 98 world cup and 2000 european championship which includes the legendary zidane, blanc, trezeguet and henry to name a few. The current crop are still new and they need to play alot together and it is here where L. Blanc need to impart his wisdom and experience. The current team has no 1 or 2 players who could really lead or rally the troops like Zidane and Blanc did. Give them 1 to 2 more years, if the same crop of players can increase their standards and gel, they will be able to do what the 98 squad did.

Blanc has completely turned around this side. Currently the French are going through an unbeaten run of 23 matches which is a world record. They are doing fine currently under Blanc. Cheers! Ram
