Well, today was the day for the mass de-fleaing. It took both me and the roomie, my guy friend "J" and the roomie's nephew and his wife to get it done. Even before the nephew and wife showed up, we had mostly gotten the cats done. Grab a cat, trim nails if needed and put on the flea med; repeat. I will say that we didn't even bother to pick up the meds for the 3 E's, we like our skin on our body, not spread around in bloody piles... The nephew mowed the yard, spread the treatment on the yard. He cleaned out the playpen and treated it. He also sprayed under the new shed and then inclosed it and the porch for my craft shed. Meanwhile, his wife cleaned the walls in the playpen, and the back of the house. She bathed the dogs really, REALLY well and, because she ran out of other things to do, also cleaned the front bathroom. After the back yard was done, the nephew mowed and treated the front yard. He says he's coming back to get the pile of branches out of the back and a lot of the "junk" that didn't go out for the bulk trash. My guy friend and I put together another of the bookcases that we got for the blind roomie, but there was a problem so the nephew had to cut some wood so we could reinforce the "joint" where the two side boards met. The people who made them failed to cut the holes close enough together for the system they made to work. (not pretty , but reinforced.) So, that's how I spent my Saturday - but yesterday's cooking of tuna mac came out GREAT and we didn't next to stop and fix anything! So, what did you do?

Grab a cat, trim nails if needed and put on the flea med; repeat. LOL I imagine with so many cats even that simple routine may take awhile. De-fleaing my house takes about two minutes. Grab cat, apply flea meds, release cat. Okay, now what? lol Did you have to keep a tally of all the cats you had de-flead or did you just do it by memory? If you couldn't apply the meds to the 3 Es for fear of mauling, how do you keep the 3 Es flea-free? Do they just have to live with fleas if they catch them?

Yes, we had a list! Makes it easier to know who to catch next! It probably took a half hour, some of the cats were easier to treat than others. Yes, the 3 E's just have to live with the fleas, BUT if they bite another cat, they will die, and they won't have more fleas on them, because we treated the playpen and yard and dogs!

I meant the fleas bite another cat they will die - and those fleas will see - "oh, look, a flea free cat! must go bite!"

I know, I tried to respond to discussions on Saturday and Sunday (for all the good that did!) I'm sorry you are only filling in, but maybe the new folks will see what an asset you are and get you there regularly.

Well, my Saturday was quite enjoyable. I had originally wanted to switch the day off with someone at work as I was supposed to do one of my Big events with my Jerky and such. But unfortunately since I did not get the OK in time, I would have had to pay another $50 to do the show which I felt was too much, so instead my husband and I decided to go to Portland, OR for the day. It was a very nice time, and we just had Fun. Always wishing every time we go though that we had more time to be there.

I think we missed Portland when we visited Oregon in 1973, except for a detour to Crater Lake (and a fun boat ride in Grant's Pass and an interesting visit to the Oregon Vortex) we pretty much stuck to the coast. http://www.hellgate.com/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oregon_Vortex

hi elicbxn you have been busy.also I am delighted for you that you had some really great helpers too. Its taken almost three weeks for my son and I to build my computer back from scratch after something\ caused parts inside to short out and melt. I don't know what I would have done if I had had to pay a computer repair person. My son is so great and he does it all for free. Odd but I have also run across bookcases that had holes not the right place. OH I love tuna mac, and chilimac is another one I really like too. I am back finally hurrah for our adult c hildren .from hatley.

I am SO glad to see you back! I'm glad that someone told us that you fried your computer so we weren't as worried about you as we might've been... I made chili-mac for Maggiepie this morning for breakfast. She wanted it for lunch, but since she wanted something that required meat to be thawed for breakfast, we reversed it. Chili-mac is one of those things you have to make enough to use the can of chili... she probably has 4 meals there!
