I was responding to a couple of current discussions here just now, then went over to my email inbox to see what was going on there..one site I'd signed up with for email updates had sent me one of these discount offer deals emails..#1 on their list of offers was an 8Gb memory key..and it's multipurpose..on the other end of it is a BOTTLE OPENER! Seriously..who is going to have need for this gadget?! (just in case it'd be a hit,I can also take orders!!)

Yep..typical gadget..buy it cos it seems like a fun or "useful" idea at the time, and then you think again..

LOL! That goes right along with the shotglass necklace with it a memory card attached to it that I saw on television the other day, because who doesn't need to a hands-free shotglass with an attached thumbdrive while on a drinking binge?!

Were these 2 separated at birth on the drawing board?! maybe they ought to be sold together in a gift pack!

LOL! Now that whole "gift package" idea is a good one! I am not sure whether or not they were separated at birth on the drawing board ... or perhaps the inventory of the bottle-opener/memory card had so much success with that invention that he or she decided to expand on the concept. The one I saw was on a television show called "World's Dumbest Inventions", and they have some pretty interesting stuff on there.

I wouldn't want to use the memory stick as a bottle opener - the risk is that while opening a bottle the leverage could bend the memory stick part of the gadget. Is the site that offers this gadget in the UK or in the Irish Republic?

I'm not sure where the stuff's coming from, but the Parent company started in Ireland and expanded into the UK..I think it's an affiliate that's doing these offers, and they're priced in Euro,so they would be targeted on Ireland at that..

And was it a blond that marketed it?

You never know..but as Purplealabaster observes below, somebody had already came up with a shot glass with an embedded memory stick-It doesn't give a very good impression of what ELSE computer users are up to while at the keyboard!
