Cheap idiot, I am so angry.

At the moment, I'm trying to sell 131 cds and dvds, and I had a price set for the lot of them. The price I set worked out to $5 each for brand new cd's, $2.50 for used ones, and $2 per dvd. I could have gotten over $300 for all of it, and I was hoping to do so. This idiot that I'm trying to negotiate with to get rid of all of them, he states that even $200 is too high. Claims that the wholesale market is crap and that they don't sell for this price. But I just did some searching, and I found a site selling used dvd's 100 of them for $250!! That's only for dvd's, not cd's. So I think that my price was more than reasonable for all it included. So I've now stated that I'm removing the new cd's from the sale and going no lower than $150 for all of them. I am not a charity, I just manage to get by every month, and this money would have helped me get my truck fixed so I could keep working and just getting by. But some people don't see that.

In my experience, things are worth only what people want to pay for them. A while ago I wanted to sell a very good painting, one you can buy for a lot of money at art galleries. But I don`t have the contacts, so they would only pay me about 1/10 of its value. I decided not to sell

He claimed to be negotiating, but he was just wasting my time. I'll find someone to buy it all soon enough.

If you think you can't drop to a few more cents, just tell the buyers to take it or leave it. That's cheap but not junk you are selling.

I told this guy that but he insists that he sells at charity events. I could put them out in my garage sale and say the same thing, but no one would know if it was true or not.

If i could afford to i would for a better offer, however i wouldn't wait for too long as they are only going to go down in value as they get more and more out of date. The thing that i don't understand is why you are selling dvds for less than the cds i thoight people would be willing to spend more on dvds i know i would be as i watch a lot of dvds but don't listen to cds.Maybe you could make more money selling them individualy or in smaller bundles that go together logically such as films from the same series or cds by the same artist. This may work as selling them all together may put people off as it may mean people buying dvds and cds they don't really like or want selling individually would mean different people could buy the different things that they like.

Don't like dealing with cheapskates much. I make wood turnings and am constantly asked to make things I don't have the equipment to make for less than cost. Why would I do that? If the stuff you have is worth the price I'd hold out. Biggest problem as a seller is connecting with your target market. Once you do that they will pay what it is worth. Best of luck. Hope you get the price you're asking for.

Unfortunatley as a previous poster said, things are only worth what people are willing to pay. DVDs are not really selling like they once were! Gamestop and places like that migh give you 50 cents or a dollar per dvd. Hope you can get a decent price for them and fix your truck!

I've been in the world of buy and sell for a long time now and I have met many such fellow. They can really ruin the day, but I just kindly tell deny their offer, thank them for it, and say that I have a price I want to meet and if he/she cannot meet it then I cannot do anything about it.

You should always price things higher than what you are willing to take. Then, there is room for negotiation. It is normal to haggle over the price; with a bit of back-and-forth before reaching a price, both buyer and seller can end up coming out of the sale feeling that they got a good deal. It doesn't really matter what one site has a lot of DVDs listed at. It only matters what buyers are willing to pay for what you have to sell. So far, you haven't had much luck with moving this stuff. With so much free or low-cost streaming video and free music available, there really isn't much of a market for most used DVDs and CDs. Honestly, some of them would probably sell for more if they were used in an art or craft project. You may need the money, but the buyer has no obligation to buy something just because the seller could use the cash. You can hold out for another buyer, but don't expect that you are going to get full asking price.

I would just tell him it is what it is if he dont want it he dont have to take it. chances are he is just trying to see how cheap he can get them hes trying to rip you off proabley. I would set it where you want and let someone else come buy them.

Hi friend, sad to hear about your situation, it is really hard to sell our products for loss, online media is a great competition place, we are in need to face the competitions from all over the world. Wish you to sell all your cd's for a good profile. All the best

If you've been trying to sell these for over a month and running into the same issues, perhaps it's time to consider that you may be expecting too much. Your price might be reasonable but not to a wholesaler because you're trying to sell retail pricing. If you want to get the higher price, try selling in smaller lots that are categorized to attract end users and not wholesalers.
