How do you feel when one of your favorites is discontinued?

I recently found a show on Netflix streaming that I hadn't watched very much at the time it was on TV. I really got interested in the show and Netflix had all the episodes available to watch. It was like a good book, wanting to get to the end and find out what happens, but to my dismay after opening up a lot of interesting plots, the show was cancelled after three seasons and never finished the story. It was a big letdown. Has that ever happened with one of your favorite shows?

They had a good vamp show on afew years ago. It was called Moonlight. The main character went on to play on Hawaii 5-0. I really miss the show. It had quite a storyline and could have had three or four more seasons easy. SOme other fans started a protest and I spent alot of time on that. Nothing came of it.

My kids commented about the show I was into that they probably cancelled the show because they had opened too many plots and kind of written themselves into a corner of not being able to follow through on them in a good way. I bet that happens sometimes.

If they had the time they could have. Its unfare to give the writers free rein and then cut it all short. This show Breaking Bad that i watch on AMC gave us some surprising news recently. That they will only have 14 more episodes. Seven this years and then another seven next season. I hope they close up all the lose ends. They are starting a new plot thread too. It will be interesting to see how they tie it all in.

I have had that same problem happen before. It seems to me they would find some way to end the season with a final ending. But I guess they don't think about that before they cancel a show. It's like they get to the end of the season and then say, well it's not worth another season. I mean why can't they even just do one more show and let everyone know the ending. I think that would be a more sensible way to close out a show.

I think when they are going to cut off in the middle of a series they should do the last episode as a 2-hour movie and kind of wrap up all the themes they had started. That would be better than just dropping the series without any warning.

Firefly was cancelled. Arrested Development was cancelled. I sure hope they don't cancel any more of my favorite shows. Yes, I'm looking at you Fox! Grrrr. But seriously, networks only care for ratings. I'm just hoping they can keep at least one show on-air which is critically-acclaimed and has a small albeit strong fanbase. Even if they're losing money, they could very much make up for it because they have good taste and people see that.

You're right. It's all about money and ratings, not about the viewers and fans of a show.

That happens to me too and I almost cry when it happens while I'm following it as each episode comes out and it abruptly ends mid series. It's happened quite a few times to me and I wish they would pick back up where they left off. One show that's technically doing that is Teen Titans but its new series isn't going to be quite the same.

I'm hoping they will make a movie to resolve the ending of the show I was watching. It has been several years so it might be hard to re-gather the cast, but it could happen. It was a popular show and people started petitions to keep in on when the network decided to cancel it, so I think a movie would do well.

Ugh, I hate that. There was a show I was watching a few years ago. I got all into it only to find out it had been discontinued. And they hadn't even gotten oven 20 episodes into it so it was relatively new. So long ago that I don't remember what it was called anymore though. All i remember was that it was a modernized bible story.

It's frustrating. I guess the only thing to do after that is if you can stream it in or buy the DVDs and re-watch your favorite episodes, but it is really a let-down when they end a series that way.

I think any fan of the old show Firefly can relate to your disappointment. I get kind of sad when a show I like and have followed for a long time comes to an end. I feel the same way when I come to the end of a book series as well. The Dark Tower series by Stephen King... when I finished the last book I was sad! I wanted to know what happened next. I hate when TV networks don't allow a show to develop before giving them the boot! ~Mandy

I guess the only upside is we can make up our own ending and make the plots turn out the way we wanted them to.

I think that has happened to most of us. When a show has been on for more than a handful of episodes, it should be given the chance to properly end if at all possible. Instead, the major networks have a bad chance of axing shows just as people are getting into them and never allowing any resolution to the show. It's enough to drive some us away from bothering to check out new shows.

I think the writers of these original series just get tired and quit sometimes. Either that or the pull the show as soon as the ratings slump for a few days.
