When I started selling Avon I asked for advice oh here to you my friends. I am still selling and I have built up a nice little base of customers. I need to though take it to another level. Our area leader believes I should try going door to door. I am not so sure I like this idea. I am not comfortable walking up to strangers doors trying to sell items. Has anyone done this and does it work for you? Is it something I should get over and do or will my discomfort show too much you think?

I don't know if I would go door to door in this day and age or not. Back in the good ole days when people were not so darn mean/evil etc it was safe but I just would not feel safe doing it today. I say follow your gut instincts and if they are telling you not to do it then don't. Congrats on doing so well with Avon!

Yep that is something along the lines I was thinking. Here in our local area (another county over) they jumped the Domino's guy and almost killed him. Took his pizza's his money and his truck.

You know it was the story from a few years back in NJ where a ring of men where ordering pizza and then they would jump the delivery men for the money they had from dropping off pizzas that keeps floating to the top of my mind...

Well there are people that do Avon here door to door. I've had books left with a note on my doorstep but mum already does it so. You don't have to disturb people. What I'd suggest is make up some flyers if you don't have enough books and put them in letterboxes just write that you sell avon products and if they are interesting in recieving a book they can email or call if you are comfortable leaving a number. That way you are not intruding and you leave them space to think about it. I don't like people that want me to make a decision on the spot so this way would be a lot nicer

I like this idea and think I will use it. I am not the kind of person who likes to have people at my door. I tend to just not answer it.

Yeah me too if I'm not expecting anyone I'm reluctant to answer because it's always door to door people and stuff which I hate. I think we need to put a sign saying no door to door people! Oh and rememebr if it says no junk mail, even though this isn't junk you should maybe skip over them in case they get cranky and start abusing you

Pne of myr first jobs was selling avom years ago. this was before the internet and door selling was how it was done. now there are so may other opportunities to get your products out there. I think you should go with what male you happiest in your selling and not allow the opinions of others push you a adirection you are uncomfortable woth.

I live in a trailer park and we are not allowed to solicit or leave things on people's doorsteps. I have been thinking about selling Avon and doing it strictly online, but I am not sure how much it costs or where to begin. I love Avon and miss many of their products. I think you should make flyers and put them in stores then people can email you (create a seperate account from your daily email account) if they want a book.
