In my husband's home nobody likes onion or garlic than me. Therefore I decided I will also leave to eat the onion. But in my mother's home nobody can eat the meals without onion. Even a small child also demanding the onion while eating. Some time Potato and onion mix sabji also made. I can eat the meals without onion or with onion. What you think this is hard to eat the meals without onion or garlic.

why is it that a wife must must not eat things she likee but tguibgs the huybby can darned well eat things he likes. Why not both people eat the foods that they like. Here in the USA we often eat things our mates really do not like and they may eat things w e do not care for.Surely both man and woman can eat what they each like. Why must it be the woman who gives up what she likes to e'at?womaen can have a right to eat what ever thy like surely

So, you got no choice. You got to leave that onion and garlic when you prepare meals for your husband and family in law unless if you prepare meals for your own self. For me the taste will be different with or without them.

It is like everyone's choice. Some family is habituated with it and some are not. But if you 'like' onion cutting with lemon/peper/and salt, you can continue to do it. It is not a harm or not a bad thing to stop. If they don't like, let them not to eat, but if you like it, you can continue eating, that is all. I personally have any like or dislike. If it is served at meals, I will have it and if not, I will not ask for it. But you may be aware that the Jains will not eat onion or potatos anything which is emerged from under the mud or earth or sand.

Sure, I my husband and sons eat a lot of garlic and onions. If you like them, eat them. I wouldn't give them up completely if they didn't like them. They gave up pizza for me because I can't have yeast but not completely. They have it once in a while. And thanks, I think the Jains would be astounded if they looked through a microscope on a daily basis. They kill things they have NO idea they kill. These jains are good people and I respect them a lot for wanting to lead a compassionate life but they take things to extremes and are a little silly about it when they won't eat an onion.

Hi, I have an open mind approach to life and I don't mind eating anything I like, when I feel hungry. Only thing, I should like to eat and normally I don't prefer anything except more spicy things. I like veg & non veg foods, but of course, there are some weard foods like those are prepared by using cocoroaches, lizards, snakes, bees etc. are out of my mind and don't prefer such crazy foods. As regards, any vegs which is edible and found good for eat should eat and we need not discriminate anything due to certain faith and belief, which I don't think there any logic in ignoring those food. Ignoring and dislike have different reasons and ignoring is due to some forceable reason and like or dislike is upto our taste on the same. Any way, I prefer to eat anything which I like, that is all.

Hi SR.. Well, if you having habit of eating onions than I will suggest you to keep that habit. As it is healthy by many ways. So why to left this habit. About me, I don't eat it regularly. But yes I eat it few times. Same thing goes for my other family member, they eat it but they are not regular. My dad keeps telling me that I should take onion every day as it is quite good for eyes and by other ways too.. But I still not take it regularly.. About garlic, I love it. And I used to have it sometimes, like garlic chutney and all that.

surekha i like onion but not garlic. Normally rajasthani people like you do not take garlic , onion because it is spicy. Onion is good because it brings down blood pressure and helps in maintenance of health. With curd rice -- if onion small pieces are mixed -- i do not require anything else-- i can eat it as it is. Surekha: I was introduced to this type of onion-curd rice only in my 37th year when I was reading MA History - correspondence course. another student brought it for lunch one day and then only i learnt it. i like it now.

yes. onion is poor man's masala. One can take food with onion and/or green chilli also. I have seen many labourers taking rice soaked in water simply tasting green chilli.

Not really onion is for man's masala, because in our country onion is always part of our food and caucines.. I think it is depends of the person...

I enjoy both garlic and onion but it has to be in small amounts otherwise it's too much for me. Oddly enough, I do love the smell of onions frying when it's mixed with certain spices. Garlic and onion are both supposed to be very good for you, I know my dad actually took garlic pills at one point due to the health benefits.

It depends on what the meal is if I want onion in it or not. Usually if there is onion in a meal it's cooked, I'm not a fan of it raw unless in taco salad. I like garlic but it doesn't like me I'm afraid... heart burn.

I think that it all depends on the people taste, and the recipe of course, I am not a big fan of garlic, myself, although I know of its many health benefits, but I do not use it, whenever I can, but, there are certain meals that demand and in fact would no be the same without garlic, like pasta and pizza. I feel that if you are at your husband´s home, you can avoid onion and garlic, if they do not like it, and, eat it, while on your mother´s place.

I think that onion can be sustitute, by other spices, but, garlic, has a particular tste and smell, that makes it hard to replace, in the end, you are right, it depends on people taste.

I absolutely adore onions and garlic. Especially dried I am very guilty since I eat them plain...:) I would have to say to eat whatever you enjoy. If you feel that onions and garlic are something very good to you I would say more power to you to eat it! I hope this helped.

Onion - Healthy spice
Onion and garlic are healthy spices. Adding them on your meal makes your eating healthier. I don't think you should avoid eating them just because your husband does not eat them. My husband loves onions and I learned to love onions too. I have known its health benefits so I consume more onions each day and even garlic which is equally beneficial.

I could not cook without onions and garlic. But there are several way you can disguise onions and there are also some that are not as strong as the normal ones even though, at least where I live, they are more expensive. I plant the sprouted garlic cloves in containers nd the leaves can be eaten. They have a milder flavour but are awesome. Bunch onions can replace onions in many dishes. But the onion and garlic family is so good for health that it would be a pity if you stopped eating them.

Everyone in our family loves garlic and onion and that does mean that those two things are ingredients that we use in almost everything that we cook here. However, if I am eating elsewhere and there are people that don't like to use garlic and onion for their cooking, it is not something that I am going to complain about. The reason for this is that I am able to respect the fact that different people have different tastes.
