Have you heard of this new club called the Grandparent's Club? It's awesome!

Myla Noelle Hoffman 7/31/2012 - My first grandbaby, Myla. She looks like her momma but has her daddy's dark hair. She's absolutely perfect.

July 31, 2012 at 5:10 p.m., my first granddaughter was born. Weighing in at 6 lbs. 11 oz. and measuring 19 1/2 inchest long, little Myla Noelle made her entrance into the world. I cannot believe the amount of love that comes with someone so small. My son and his partner are beyond happy as well as the baby's Nana, otherwise known as me. Something like this happening makes all the bad stuff go away... for a little while, anyway. I'm going to their house in a few hours to place balloons all over the place before they bring the new baby home from the hospital. I'm so very excited to have FINALLY joined the ranks of "grandparent". So, how was July 31st for you? Are you a member of the Grandparent's Club?

It is a grand opportunity for you to rejoice. Congratulations on this auspicious occasion. Let the little angel bring in more pleasures to your life. Were I close to you physically, I would have taken you for a grand dinner at a place of your choice. Anyway, treat me as part of your family and let me share the moment of pleasures in your life..

Aww, that is so sweet of you, Ram! I would have loved being treated to a grand dinner on that night. Alas, no one here offered so I just went home after holding the baby for awhile and wishing all the best to the new parents with lots of hugs and kisses for them all. My son and his partner were given a candlelight dinner of their own last night. I thought that was wonderful of the hospital to offer such a nice gift to the new parents. As you are part of my life, you are also part of my family, great uncle Ram.

My son, the daddy, and his precious new daughter - His cheeks must hurt by now from all the smiling he's done since her birth. I'm so happy that he's so happy.
Here is my son with his new daughter. He's so happy I don't think he's stopped smiling yet.

Enjoy them while they're young. It gets worse! A friend of mine said that being a grandparent is our reward for surviving the rearing of our children. I LOVED being able to hold that precious bundle for awhile then hand her back over to her parents and go home to a good night's sleep.

I know it gets worse, I had a hand in bringing up my little brother (hes 14 now). Nut I adore children I spend as much time with them as possible people think Im crazy7, i think I havent grown up enough yet haha!! But yes that must be lovely to hand back the baby so you could have a good night sleep! My mum always said that I would know how she felt because I was a really bad sleeper as a child but I have been really lucky! Enjoy being a grandparent!! (I know you will)

What a beautiful, unique name for a lovely child! I like it because it is unique without being outlandish. I'm so happy for you! Children can make the world seem bright and full of hope--and it is, because of them. We get another chance at making the world better every time a child is born. I wish her a life full of interesting experiences and more joy than sadness. Have you read Paul Harvey's wish for children? Not a life full of ease and happiness but adversity to make them stronger and some sadness so that they can appreciate happiness, problems to help them grow and so much more. If you haven't read it, you should look it up.

Daddy, Mommy and Baby - This is one of my favorite photos but, of course, there are so many more! lol
Thanks so much, dragon. I so wish you and I could have done this together and still feel so very bad about what happened. You are so very right about children. All of the negative things happening in my life totally disappeared this day. I could think of nothing but this precious gift and the joy she had already spread in such a very short time. My heart hasn't felt so light in a very long time, not since my sons were born. I haven't read Paul Harvey's wish for children but I am definitely going to look for it. It definitely sounds like something I'd love to read and share with my son and his family. Thanks so much for recommending it!

That was a tear jerker dragon. I used to listen to Paul Harvey all the time when he was broadcasting. He was a very wise man.

Congratulations on joining this amazing club. I have heard that it feels almost as special as becoming a parent for the first time. I am hoping that I will not have to join it for at least another 10 to 15 years, but realistically if things go bad, I could be joining it in another 3 or 4 years. But I hope that that won't happen!

My son and his new daughter - He hasn't stopped grinning since the big moment. His cheeks must be awfully sore by now from all that smiling. lol
Thank you, Bill. I can certainly understand what you're saying and I'll join you in hoping it won't happen for another 10 to 15 years. I was worried that my sons would not be ready when they finally became a parent but this one has shown that he is definitely ready. I was worried also that I'd be too old by the time either of my sons had their own family! The proud daddy is 31. I can't believe how happy he is. Well, yes, I guess I can believe it. You are so very right about it feeling so special. I was no less happy when this beautiful little girl was born than when my own sons were born. There is something so very special about children, whether they're yours or your children's children. My son came into the waiting room to announce her birth with a grin at least three feet wide and tears streaming down his face. Naturally, that got me crying, too, but definite tears of pure joy.

That is a great photo that brings back my own memories. I remember the feeling well. It was such an amazing experience becoming a parent for the first time. It was still amazing the second time around but that feeling could not quite match the first time. I was 26 when my daughter was born. She is turning 13 soon and is a pretty sensible girl that has career aspirations, so I cannot see her being foolish enough to become a parent too early. I have a friend who became a grandparent at the age of 38 as his daughter got pregnant in her teens. As a father of a girl entering that age bracket, I am petrified of what it to come!

I am a grandson of someone who left me few years back, I loved my grandmother. I always tried to figure her out and I liked the way she use to schold my father and telling him to take a good care of me. I never saw my grandfather because he left more earlier. I think your children will love you if you give them happy moment in their childhood. I remember the happy and sad moments of my childhood and no one can steel them from me. congratulations to you.

Thank you, sanjay! I hope that my grandchildren will one day say the same about me. There are so many things I want to do with this little girl as she grows up so that both she and I will have some wonderful memories. You're so right about no one being able to steal your memories. I hope I can give my granddaughter some very, very happy memories.

Yay! I'm so happy for you. You deserve to have something happy to occur in your life right now. Myla is such a pretty name. How did they decide on it? My dad of course joined the ranks of grandparent club this year too with my sister and BIL adopting. She turned one in July. We've only had her in our lives for a few months, but it's hard to imagine our lives without her.

Isn't it amazing how a baby can engrain themselves into your life and heart so quickly? I couldn't believe how very much in love with my little granddaughter I was until I looked at her squirming face for the first time. Whether a baby is yours by blood or by adoption, it makes no difference. The love we have for them is exactly the same. I've often thought that if I ever adopted a child, I would let them know that they were extra-special because I chose them over all the rest. I'm so happy for you, Aunt AmbiePam, and your sister and BIL. And, of course, the new little one. They are so adorable at that age, in my opinion, between one and two. THEN they can be a bit trying. lol

Congratulations! I have no children, so I am not now or in the future a member of the club. My friend's are grandparents and they say it is much nicer than being a parent. What an unusual and pretty name. It sounds like grandma is already wrapped around her little finger.

You must be so proud, I don't have kids yet but both of my sisters do and I've never seen my parents happier to be grandparents. They are always calling up my sisters asking to take the kids for the weekend, I think it keeps my mom and dad young. They love playing with them and laughing with them, I can't wait to see them with my kids. Congratulations, you're going to love it!

Hello meat and welcome to the bet club in the world. There is nothing like grandkids to make your life complete. I have nine 6 girls and three boys. I raised two of the grandkids a boy and a girl. One of the nice thinks about grandkids is when they get fussy or have other undesirable needs you can hand them back to Mom and Dad. That first one is extra special just because they are first. Here is a web site for grandparents you might want to check out. Grandparents.com. Enjoy that little baby while you can.

I am one of the most excited persons at that time Marti. While I was monitoring your updates on Facebook regarding her entrance to the world, I was also busy commenting to posts of greetings on my Timeline. Only because of our different time zones that her birthday is July 31 and mine is August 1 but it can be considered as have the same birthday, as in twins.
