since the first time I doubt about the gold medals. our government expect gold medals but they have no effort to empower our sport. may several years later we will also easily lost from country like Malaysia, Vietnam, England, etc in badminton. there's no golden generation like Susi Susanti or Alan Budikusuma anymore. there's no regeneration effort that make our hope grow strong. next year we should send more athletic athlete than badminton athlete... we didn't even win any thropy in Indonesia Open ( when the competition held in our home ), so what's hope??

actually you had answered your question to ollenz..
we are same..we are sad and dissapointed with the result..we worry why our government did not give many attention to our athletes..this is not short term training..
can you imagine that china had prepared their athlete since 4 years ago?? they want to beat once again USA in the overall position in olympics..and of course it means that the government must support for 100 percent for the ambition
our government?? they are so busy with the president election 2014

Sure, it's very sad for our country, where the tradition of gold carried by badminton was already closed. Yes, Indonesian athletes in athletics is not superior because there are names that have been accomplished.
But we should be proud of the struggle of Indonesia at the Olympics.
BE INDONESIA RAYA.

if you ask me about proud for their struggle in this olympics, i can say Yes..iam proud of their effort...
but we are talking about our sadness when the government did not give many attention to our athlete..
this is not only athlete mistake..
many party support so our gold tradition in the olympics had been stopped in this London 2012..
from the athlete themselves, the sport federation, and the government..
3 stakeholders are the important items for the succesfully the country in the sport tournament..
The athelete can play maximal if they never prepared well..The long preparation of course takes a much money..and do you think where the sport federation donations if they want to send athlete in one tournament?? of course from the government..
so it is the cycle i think...

Our gold medal favorite Saina lost to Chinese world number 1 in the ladies badminton singles semis which was pretty hard to take. This contest was dubbed as Saina vs. China as the other three competitors in the semis are Chinese. So round 1 has gone to China. Tomorrow Saina takes the Chinese world number 2 in the bronze medal match and I am keeping my fingers crossed that Saina wins.
BTW, India did win a Silver today, so now we are proudly at 32nd position with a Silver and a Bronze. :)
Cheers!

It is always good to be back here at mylot.
Oh, our hope for gold lost too.
I think he was cheated, cheated by the referee.
This happened in one of our contenders also in Atlanta olympics with the same category.
but anyway, conrtaulations to those who won!

Olleenz, what do you think was wrong with our sport currently?? Especially in badminton, we have our achievement decrease significantly in these few years. it's seems like there's no spirit anymore to win. in your opinion, what's wrong? who is to blame?? and what should be fixed to get our golden generation back?

Actually I already told my reason on this discussion:
http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/2685277.aspx
Based on that discussion, I gonna blame politician and system remuneration.
We must understand productivity in sport had very short circle and it hard made a living on sport with current remuneration system. So if we want great athletes in the future, we must change remuneration system.
But it hard when politician still involved.
Note: Somehow I believe this situation related to deletion of Porkas / SDSB (lottery). If you not believe, try to evaluate sports achievement before and after deletion those lottery

Not every country will win a gold all the time as the US and China have made sure to get the majority of them. The only thing your country can do is return home and work on building the next generation. There are 4 years till the next Olympics which doesn't leave too much time for training.
