Is it Really Possible For me to be close to God?

Close to God? How can a sinful, an imperfect human become His friend? To many people, God seems to be an aloof, distant figure, and impersonal "First Cause". Finally, I've learned that, "Yes". It is indeed possible to be his Friend. It involves cultivating a relationship with God, becoming his friend. Far from being unapproachable God invites us to "seek...and really find him", for "he is not far off from each one of us."(Acts 17:27) Reading the Bible is thus an essential part if getting close to God.

James 4:8 Amplified Bible (AMP) 8 Come close to God and He will come close to you. [Recognize that you are] sinners, get your soiled hands clean; [realize that you have been disloyal] wavering individuals with divided interests, and purify your hearts [of your spiritual adultery].
This Scripture tells us that we can get as close to God as we want but we have to make changes in our lives. If we are willing, then God will help us, so that there is forgiveness of sins through Jesus' ransom sacrifice.
The Bible helps us to see what we are and what we should become and with God's help, all is possible.

Yeah,,I agree with you 1hopefulman.. James 4:8 always reminds me that God is not far from us. If we seek Him,we will surely find him.. Very comforting to know..Thank you for sharing that Bible Text....Have a great day...^_^

200% you can be close to God , no matter how sinful or how sinner you find yourself still God loves you and just around there , all the time and in all places for you to respond in his call. He keeps on waiting , never gets tired of waiting. It is all for us to respond to His call. God loves us who ever we are . Before our parents loves us , God does it already.

We should keep and treasure our close relationship with God.. It is the only thing that anyone can't get it from us. In my case, I always value this intimate relationship with Him,,and always thank Him that even how sinner I am He is always there for me..

Amen.
There are times when (and I think this happens to everyone) God seems distant and too holy to approach, but more often, He is closer to me than I could even explain. I talk to Him often about everything and He directs me in many ways. Being close to Him makes everything worthwhile.

There is no man that is perfect, God will take you as you are. When judgement day comes that is when you find out how well you did in life, no one can tell you before that time where you are headed. If you feel you need a relationship with God then you are being handed a sign, take it and move with it, God will do the rest.

It is an amazing thing to have a real relationship with God. It is through Jesus of course that we can have this. We become clean with the blood of Jesus and then we are able to know God and become His child and friend. Repentance is a key for us always to be close to God.

I agree echoforever.. That's absolutely an encouraging thoughts.. Jesus Ransom sacrifice gives us the privilege to be cleansed with our sin. Very comforting to know that we can have close relationship with the Almighty God and Jesus Christ..Have a great day.
