How long do you keep your jeans for?

Just a dumb discussion I decided to make, as I have been perusing the clothes section for quite some time here on MyLot. As we speak I am wearing a pair of jeans - dark denim, skinny (by Converse) but I have worn them out quite a bit - that there is a major hole in one knee and another hole in the thigh. I think after this wear I should probably just throw them away - but they were at one point so cute! I have probably had them for about 1 year now. Sometimes I will cut my jeans into jean shorts if they are starting to wear out, but this pair has that giant hole, so that would probably not help me at all. I will probably just throw them away (or give them to my dad, who uses old material as grease rags at work - being an automechanic) Do you have a hard time letting go of your worn out jeans? How long does a typical pair last for you? And when you are done with them, what do you typically do with them? Is there a cool way you re-use them?
