Augusta to have female members!

I maybe in the minority but I am sad. I don't mind guys having a place where women are not allowed , just as long as women have a place where men are not allowed. I'm old fashioned. I think some men need a place to sit and regroup Without any women being around. This golf Course was it. But I do know Why Augusta Had to do this. Money. They were taking the money of companies with female C.E.O's and they couldn't become members? So there is one less haven for the guys. Oh Well. I do believe many a guy would be less hostile to the women in their lives if they could just get away for a bit. You know a man cave of sorts. I know nothing will stop the abuser but... the guy who can go either way , maybe some time away could help.Your thoughts.

Obviously, your discussion was triggered by the report titled "Augusta national golf club opened its exclusive membership to women for the first time in its 80-year history ".I stand for equality of men and women as well as men and women getting equal pay for equal work, however I don't think it makes sense that men and women can't have their own place.

Over here it seems men can't have anything Just for them these days. So I feel sad for them. Why is this needed? many a guy needs a break from women. Thankfully many guys have a " Man cave" at home. Augusta is for the rich. They Had to let women join because they take money from companies that have female CEOs. But I hope there are still men only places.

I think the reason why many a guy needs a break from women is that they are fed with their wives' moan or the daily grind of the housework.I don't know if there is a place that is similar to "man cave" here.Don't get me wrong,I have not had the problems above. It goes to show you are a very just person that you speak for men.

It seems that your Mum was a person of liberal views, which can explain why you have been the way you are in a sense.I am now busy in attending my 91 year old Mum,but occasionally I dine out with my male friends for a change and what we talk about covers a lot of interesting topic. We enjoy ourselves very much.

I'm sure the 'Men's Bar' at the famous and very exclusive Singapore Cricket Club is now open to women - they were able to keep the name I think. Causes much tension and debate.

The moment the first woman stepped into that bar , they should have changed the name!

Wow, we think alike on this issue. I always thought that feminists needed to back off of forcing women members on Augusta. I mean they should be able to have their own space. There are plenty of places that are just for women, why not let men have the same thing? This was a fight I didn't think was worth having. I just hope it works out and it doesn't cause friction.

There are still many things men do without women and that is fine with me....there are also tons of things women do without men....I am totally indifferent to what happened....if they need women to add to the pot so be it....that would be better then the golf course going broke.

I'm old school. I was happy when The Masters went Sponsor-less one year because they wouldn't bend on their own rules. But If they are going to use money from companies with female CEOs They Better accept women.

I think everyone needs a getaway too. There are still clubs in my area that are particularly for women and then, of course, there are some stuff just for men. It's good to have some separation sometimes. Men can relate to other men and women have a chance to relate to other women.

I actually had mix feelings about these when I heard the news. I understand that the world needs to move on. That anything a man can do, a woman can do (maybe even better!) too. And that they had to accept women in Augusta for money-reasons. But I liked it when men can have their exclusive clubs (being a guy). Like me in a fraternity. Not that I don't accept women as equals, but I like that socially awkward guys (like me) can have a place to hang out.

I like the idea that guys have a place where they can be guys. A place where there are no women to get offended.

I think clus that think that way should remain private, or refrain from hosting big nation wide events. If they want to be famous, and in the public eye, they need to be neutral.
