I bought a large pack of Strawberries from teh grocery store. Its the large 2 lbs of strawberries. They were 50% off, and they looked fine, until I opened them and the bottom ones were mushy. I threw out the real bad ones, but I still have some decent amount left. I cut up a couple for my ice cream with raspberries, and bananas. But I dont know what to do with teh rest, I was thinking strawberry crisp.

Freeze them in individual portions, if you can keep your family out of them. I know a lot of people like strawberry rhubarb pie or in a dish without crust. I agree that stewed strawberries sounds gross.

Pie actually sounds really delicious actually. But I can imagine the cost of the pie crust.

Strawberry Crisp sounds yummy. There are some smoothies made with it if you're into that as well. I just made it with blueberries and Greek yogurt that was on sale this week. I wanted to make some chocolate covered strawberries in the ice cube trays but didn't have the right berries. I like to grow my own, organic are much healthier. The ones I have had outside are going to waste cause I can't garden very well, or weed, etc either til I'm 100% better.

I love chocolate covered strawberries but usually the chocolate runs right off. I love smoothies as well which I was thinking of using some with that.

I wouldn't cook them like Gardengirty said. It changes the texture and taste. I would freeze them in small portions and then thaw them for smoothies or your cereal.

I would put them in the blender with other fruits or eat them on cereal. I would not cook them. That is just me of course. They are really good with cantaloupe, too.

I may make smoothies with them, but I dont mind them in a strawberry crisp, but not stewed. My Grandma always does that and I find them mushy and gross. Maybe, on some oatmeal in the morning would be good as well.

Two pounds isn;t that much. I suppose you could make strawberry pie with them, you know the kind where you cook strawberry juice and cornstarch and sugar and pour it over cut strawberries in a baked piecrust and put whipped cream over it. I suppose you could also make strawberry shortcake as well. What I do is cut up some and mx it with yogurt and put some granola on top.

Make some strawberry shake or strawberry cheesecake. You could also do chocolate fondu. I love fruits dipped into chocolates. Also strawberry fruit shakes are really healthy.

I have never thought of a strawberry crisp. I make it in cherry, and peach though. Sounds interesting. May have to give it a try. I make chocolate covered strawberries. also when I buy strawberries if I get more than I can normally eat as they are I get either a angelfood loaf cake and make strawberry shortcake with whipped cream. Or I will make a yellow layer cake for the shortcake. now you have me thinking cake LOL

That's what I hate about strawberry and most berries in fact. They are just too delicate. What I would do is make a strawberry shake or maybe you can make a strawberry cake. The cake keep pretty well as long as you store it properly in the refrigerator.

I'll take some- send them over The other thing I would do is coat them in sugar and freeze them in air tight bags. You can also coat them in sugar, put them in an air tight container in the fridge for a few hours and then serve them over shortcake. Top them with whip cream. Sound yummy!

Why not mash them and freeze them for future topping on ice cream or pancakes? They will stay fresh endlessly if you just freeze them up!

It's called strawberry salad. Of course the only thing healthy about it is the strawberries, and I suppose the pretzels aren't so bad. If you have any pretzels and whipped cream, strawberry jello handy you just layer it all. The pretzels you crush to make the crust. Pop it in the fridge for a bit and once it's chilled, just take it out and it's delicious. I've had it as a birthday cake several years.
