Today, is the start of new month, September and I was trying to remember on some of my favorite things about September. Things like cooler days and cooler nights, the days getting shorter and the first signs of autumn leaves falling and with that I remember this silly quote about September... "My favorite poem is the one that starts 'Thirty days hath September" because it actually tells you something"- Groucho Marx What does September tell you?

For me, I'd have to say that there is something that is a mixed bag for me. You know, we are still holding on to the last remnants of summer as the days start to get shorter and the weather starts to get cooler. There are some things that I like about the coming of the fall season, like the fact that apples can be picked and you can get a jug of really good apple cider. But then again, I don't like to think about the fact that it is soon going to be cold and barren outside.

Gosh, your comments about apple cider sure sounds good. I used to live in Michigan and there are all kinds of orchards and cider mills and it was a regular trip in the fall. Here, in Texas, I am not so sure where there are any. I guess I will have to go on a hunt for some good cider. It always tastes so good right from the orchard.

September always reminds me of back to school. When I was growing up, we never started back to school until after Labor Day (the first Monday in September). I think of the smell of new crayons and pencils, tablets and shiny scissors. I almost envy young children going back to second or third grade, although it's different now, I'm sure.

I know, I feel the same way about September and back to school. I always remember the smells of a new school year and a new box of crayons. There is something truly magical about that new box of crayons.

to us its the start of the "ber" months which means Christmas is just around the corner and everyone particularly the children are looking forward to this season of joy and rejoicing.

Wow, I had never thought of the 'ber' months as reminding me about Christmas. Way to early for me to think about that. Growing up in Buffalo and then Michigan the winter months always brought snow and cold and I just hated it. September was still warm and yet not hot and I loved the month.
