Death instead of Divorce!

When I starting working back in the late 70's murder was not so big. It was not an everyday occurence. So the first time I remember seeing a murder printed on the front page of the Daily News in New York I was shocked. Now fast forward to 2012 and murder occurs just about everyday and it does not shock anyone anymore unless its your family member. I can't believe that on the ID Investigating Discovery channel they have many different shows concerning, murder. Shows such as Sins and Secrets, Deadly Affairs, Deadly Women, Blood Lies and Alibis, etc.. Where so many are couples either married or not will kill their spouse or girlfriend, boyfriend instead of splitting up or divorcing. I don't understand how murdering your spouse will come to your mind before a divorce. I'm in shock as to how many shows are on this channel showing the many ways people will kill and its always because of another person or money. I'm in shock as to how many people will go that route instead of walking away. That we can have so many shows on one Channel showing so many different murder cases is crazy. Have you watched any of these shows? If so, what are your thoughts or comments?

A statement has been made many times "If it bleeds, it sells". They produce these shows because they attract audiences. We watch them and then we become desensitized to the loss of life. More and more people find it just too easy to kill someone and find it more acceptable because they see it all the time on television.

I believe people who do this sort of things are just evil to start with. I don't think tv makes them that way. Hope u & gg are having a good day,

I'm sorry I don't necessarily believe that not for everyone. I'm still quite in shock when I see the way people are killed and for what. It still upsets me when I see the different stories especially involving good law abiding citizens. It still upsets me when I see a child or family has been killed. It will never be acceptable in my book unless of course it was all in self defense. Then again I would still be upset for killing someone even if it had become my life or theirs.

The Philippines is an Asian country known to adore the United States more than any other country in the world. Remember that these countries have long history of hate and friendship. Since the 1970s, Filipina women favor male Americans than Europeans. The Philippines is still a developing country. The citizens are eager to eke out from poverty. Marriage to American citizens is one of the top options. Many Filipina marry their partners thru mail-order requests made on the internet. The marriage usually takes place in the Philippines. Afterwards, the women are given away by their parents to go to the U.S. These women are then insured for millions of dollars by their husbands. Recent events showed that may of these Filipinas have gone missing after a year of marriage. Solved cases point to murder. Unfortunately, Filipina women are not discouraged by this reality. Long lines of them are queuing to marry a foreigner.

How horrible! I don't understand how they know what could happen but continue to try to get married to a foreigner. I hope the men have been found and put in to prison for the rest of their lives.

I have seen some of those types of documentaries and have the same thought as you, there's no sense killing the partner just because you want to split from them. I guess this is the main reason why most of the crimes that happen are "crimes of passion" - they simply happen out of anger and desire to eliminate the person causing you problems or "hate" on the face of the earth. I know it's not justified to do so, but heck, there are people crazy enough to try to test if they could get away with it. Have a great mylot experience ahead!

Yes some happen in the fit of passion. However, there are many more that are premediated murders. Where they are looking for the insurance money. I can't believe how many times its all about the money. Happy mylotting!

Most murder cases I've ever watched on TV due to the jealousy of one partner or an unproven suspicion that their partner had an affair with someone else. A few days ago I watched a murder story in one of the cities in my country, a man slammed his a 5 month old baby to the floor because of suspicion that his wife had an affair. Can you imagine the suffering experienced by the baby? What was wrong with the baby? If he was angry with his wife why he vent to a baby? he did not have the heart of a father. There is also a case of a man who killed his girlfriend because he wanted to rule his girlfriend's wealth. It is unfortunate that some people are very easy to take a short decision-blooded murder of another person.

That is so horrible. I can't imagine how anyone could hurt a baby or child but it happens everyday throughout the world. That is one thing that bothers me the most. An innocent child hurt or killed. They don't deserve such actions against them in any circumstances.

Hi friend, i agree with your point, if we are not interested in living with our partner, we can simply end up our relationship with a divorce, it is far better than killing our partner. I wonder why most of the persons are interested in this kind of killing activities then going for divorce?. Killing a person is really a great sin and the person whoever involved in such kind of activity never get peace in hie/her life

hi there that would be an evil scheme. if i state my stand, a big no no for this. it is in the ten commandments that do not kill. but because a person cannot stand with the problem, feeling so helpless and that, more if jealousy strikes, they would like to kill the person rather thinking one might throw him/herself to another person. unbelievable but really happening. that is selfishness.

I think it gives too many people ideas. Some of them even let you know things to do that is hard to be caught.

I watch the ID channel quite abit. They have some pretty wild shows. I have seen the time when i could have murdered my ex, lol but i just divorced him instead..I think whast it all boils down to whichever spouse is the richer they don't want to have to split it 50-50. They can hire someone for alot less that splitting their big bucks. It's a shame that people are that greedy.

Right greedy is not the word. I can't imagine that people think they are going to get away with it in the first place. Especially with DNA and other great forensic abilities. I know there is no way I would want to spend the rest of my life in jail over a man or money. Its just not worth it to me. When I see a man or women greedy for money and they killed their spouse I'm so glad when they are found guilty I'm yelling at the TV - Gotcha! LOL LOL LOL!

There is certainly no shortage of those kind of shows. It does make it seem like that is a popular choice. I watched that Deadly Women a few times and there was one I saw that was about men too. I thought the same thing that you are...why not just walk away? Money played a pretty big part in some of them.

I have seen a show called snapped and it shocks me as well, that people would rather kill the person, that they may have used to love or probably still do, that they would rather kill them instead of just breaking up with them or getting a divorce. It is crazy, I know that I would never kill my husband I love him too much and then plus, I would just rather divorce him. If it was a situation where I could not be with him.

Maybe the show just want to show the world what is happening in real life. It looks like a bad show, or too morbid, but also educational. To make us aware how dangerous people are. Imagine someone you love and you've exchange vows could kill you. It's hard to understand why people kill especially spouses instead of divorce or kicking their partner. This is real and happening everywhere in the world. Too bad that sometimes we-human acts much worse than the lowest kind of animal in the wild.

Yes the shows on this channel are showing real life incidents that have happened over the years. Its so true how people can actually act worse then an animal in the wild. The animal in the wild instincts would always protect their family, not kill them.

I have seen numerous shows about it and just about everytime i watch it i get really disappointed at how people react now to their problems. Sometimes these murderers are really sick in the head that's why they have resorted to such demonic act.

I've seen on TV where this couple have actually engaged in killing another couple while on a vacation. I'm like how do they even get it in their brain to do such things? Like how does this happen? They look like regular people but then they decide to kill this couple and then chop up their bodies and leave the body parts in different places. OMG I just can't imagine how the mind can take someone to such a dark evil place like that.

Yes, indeed. the mind is so powerful that if you can not control your thoughts, disastrous things can happen.

most of the killer involving family members treats other members as an item of their own, and most of the time it seems like that feeling of ownership have already been dominated or perhaps deleted the feeling of empathy...

I think I saw that one too! The truth of the matter was he really was not having an affair with his wife but he killed him not knowing the truth. Right? Now he will be spending the rest of his life in prison and his son will not have a daddy.

It really is so sad how common place murder is now. When I was young I had never knew anyone who had been murdered. But not at 29 a girl who I had gone to high school with her mother was murdered by her husband last week. Its the first person Ive ever known who was murdered.
