Seems with religion, it's all about Good and Evil. Is it really just about good and evil?? Aren't there a million things parents teach their children besides good and evil?? How much more does God teach?? It is enough to span Eons. You can be it all, do it all, and learn it all. The choices are all yours.

I don't know what religions you are talking about. My religion does not feature any discussion of good and evil. It focuses on kindness and compassion. If parents teach kindness and compassion there is no need for a discussion of good and evil. de omnibus dubitandum

Yes, I realize I can not group all the religions in the world as one. I was just being general. On the other hand, there are many things to learn besides kindness and compassion. Some people focus everything on religion when religion can not come close to teaching all we can learn. So many claim to have everything about God and life in their holy book. They do not make a book that large enough. Hey, what about tap dancing, how to thrill an audience, how to help hurt people. and how to analyze and solve problems? There are an infinite number of things one can learn. Religion won't teach all that but God will in time.

If you are waiting for a god, goddess or gods to teach you to tap dance I suspect you will have a long wait. de omnibus dubitandum

I don't agree , religion is not good and evil only , but it include every thing which make human live his life , how can he treat other : his wife , children , people ,and animals , how can he solve his proplems with others , how can help others , I think that religion is Constitution of life , if a man applied , he will live happy and less sins .

Does it teach tap dancing??? How about microbiology?? Maybe it includes celestial mechanics. Doesn't simple acting in a movie takes knowledge and learning to be able to really move an audience??? There is so much to learn, In time, God will teach it all to us.

Samar, isn't a man allowed to lie to his wife in your religion?

It is funny how some people will die for beliefs yet never take the effort to discover the truth for themselves. I think you are right. Many lessons are needed out there.

Hi bird: In my humble opinion the main teaching of religion should be love and compassion to others. In general humans are good or at least try to be good. It's easy to judge and see people as evil but we have something to be rescued. Our actions can't not be simple classified that way. ALVARO

The main teaching of religion should be love, kindness and compassion. I agree. On the other hand, God is not limited to teaching us only that. There is an infinite number of things God will teach His children in time. The view of God should not be limited to simply good and evil.

patience and divine are the two ultimate things I have got from nature. I feel nature as god.

See patience is something you have learned that has nothing to do with good or evil. On the other hand, I bet you use it in a way that does help others. Good for you!!

"Seems with religion, it's all about Good and Evil. Is it really just about good and evil??" -- It depends on which religion you're talking about. In the Christian religion, for example, it's more about leading people to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. "Is it really just about good and evil??" -- No, but that's a starting place. "Aren't there a million things parents teach their children besides good and evil??" -- Sure there are, but I thought you were talking about religion, not parents. "How much more does God teach??" -- God has instilled in each of us a sense of right and wrong. He also has given us a wonderful guide book, the Bible, that is a tremendous tool to help us in gaining knowledge. "It is enough to span Eons." -- And after all that time, you still only know as much as God will allow. "You can be it all, do it all, and learn it all. The choices are all yours." -- Anyone who things they can reach a level equal to God has fallen for the same nonsense that Adam and Eve fell for. Just like any other organization, religion has an agenda that it's promoting. But for those who think religion should go beyond just teaching right from wrong, be of good cheer, many religions have branched out into the scholarly educational fields as well, and are now accredited learning institutions.

If it is good and evil like black and white, then god must be either pretty hopeless teacher, or we must be pretty hopeless students. :) The truth? Well, initially it is black and white, then it becomes slightly gray, and then we realize everything is good in some context, and bad in some context, and then realize that nobody is perfect, and we are better than nobody. And therefore, we become more forgiving. Before we realize it its the end of story. :)

Vandy. We are all eternal. It is never the end of the story. Perhaps, it is the end of a chapter in that story. As we discover what our actions really mean, we start to realize it is all about understanding. The need for judgment calls in order to grade ourselves and others only generates hurt and hate. Blame becomes so petty when the results of education is what counts. It doesn't matter how we arrived as long as we get there. God is very patient. All the kiddies will get there in time. We will all learn in time that there is only one answer, Unconditional Love.

Thanks for posting this discussion. Well i personally feel that there is nothing wrong when parents teach their children about good and evil only because it is only then they get to know what is wrong and what is right. They will develop the thinking in a way that they can take their own decisions sensibly and without any doubts. Yes of course then the parents might also teach them something else that might help their children to grow in the future. What say?

Understanding good and evil will always help one make the right choices, however many other things that we learn also help bring out our talents then help define who we are. Education should be rounded.

Hi, I think all the things which we can teach our children can be divided into catagoris good and bad or evil things. It is the responsibility of the parents to tell their children what is good and what is bad. God is also teaching us lessons from our experiences in our life. By teaching good and evil we are making our children good human beings.

Still, there is more to life than simple good and evil. To see only good or evil would be to carry such a narrow view.

It's ok that parents teach their children about God and Evil, but of a certain age you must have own reasoning. I don't believe in that thing. It's a material world and these things disappear. Ok, I have a spiritual side. I do good deeds, but not for the religious part but for helping people.

Very Very Good. You define yourself instead of allowing others to do it for you. I bet you have a long list of talents and have learned many many things that have nothing to do with good and evil. I bet you find a way to somehow use those talents to help others. Yes, you understand much. You understand that helping others is a choice that you will not have trouble making. We are here to serve. Your selfless side is shining along with your wisdom.
