hello mylotters, Hard to believe! is this even possible? Ok so here's the story. a guy was asking for directions regarding the place he was going to. then, he went to a couple of strangers and you thought they are residents there, they stole his vehicle. the guy reported it the cops, after that he went for a coffee. but then later he saw these two people who had his VAN! he mentioned this was his, then the people insist they don't know him, they made idle threats to him. NO Choice, he had to arrest them himself! Not sure if this was allowed. but one of them was a daughter of a former General. then the first group who took his car was arrested in Las Pinas? the real Lesson here is: never leave the vehicle when all alone while talking to strangers. in fact, never leave the vehicle.so many modus operandi these days

I am worried to people in our country. Those who want leave in peace and are mostly the victims of member in different modus operandi people. This things are now very rampant in our country anywhere, no excuses at all. We are living in a nice way, do our part as a citizen. Workhard for our family then in a single glimpse of our eyes, everything were gone

Hello Julyteen, This was very quick and never happened in the past. it makes you wanna search the map instead of asking strangers in the neighbourhood, because you never know if their really dangerous or ordinary people. well, vigilance is still the solution to this kind of problem, people are really doing every thing just to get our money.

Thank goodness I don't have a car . Anyway, I feel sorry for the van owner, he shouldn't have indeed left hi car when he doesn't know the place and the people there. And with those looking for cheap cars, make sure you have all the papers before you buy it because we can never tell if that is stolen or not.

Hello Gaiza12, Who wouldn't??? you can't expect something like that when you thought your not in the dangerous situation. that's why i am putting up with the car repairs that my brother's being using. though, it's a very old car, he's safe from being carnapped. he wanted to buy a new one but i kept tellin him no, just put up with his car because its safe

Come to think of it, this is a bad business insight for future Car manufacturing and trading firms. because it will be hard for them to sell new vehicles to future customers because they fear loosing their new vehicle. another problem is that people who buys new vehicles are not given seminars on how to protect their new vehicle.

Exactly! Maybe that is the reason why my dad always buys second hand cars from his friends, he might be afraid of this high rate of car-nappings in our country.

My hubby has actually forbidden me to go out late at night, especially when I am alone because of all these bad news that we see on TV. I don't have a problem with that because I rarely go out. I usually go out just to do some grocery shopping and that's it. We were also able to watch on the news about that lady call center agent who also had her car stolen somewhere in Muntinlupa or Alabang. Things are getting kinda scary nowadays with robber becoming more brazen when they need to steal cars or rob people. They usually kill or make sure that the person that they are robbing gets hurt.

Yes for as long as you can arrest the person that harmed you. That is what that police told in a TV interview. I think it is dangerous to do it of course because you can never know what the suspects can do to you instead. So I guess it ie better to have someone with you when you do the citizens arrest than doing it on your own.

Yeah the owner really is determined to exercise his right to exercise citizen arrest. Well he is indeed brave to do so. The one arrested is claiming they just bought the car but I think it is still a criminal offense to buy things that are stolen.

Cool! How do you arrest someone? There really a lot of modus operandis these day. We should all be cautious. Women are the usual targets.

Hello Knicnax, I don't know how he did it but probably he ask permission? in the first place that's not allowed because authorities should do it alone. in the US they have neighbourhood watch, but unfortunately they can't arrest. in our country we have very very little number of police force and most of them are out of service because of their own crimes

What a bizarre scenario! My mother told me that in certain areas, some people will intentionally hit your car lightly, so you have to pull over and get insurance and everything, but their intent is to make you get out of the car so they can either mug or rape you, especially if you're a female and driving alone.

Forgot to happen this mostly happens at night as well. How scary. If I didn't know this and it happened to me, I'd probably be a victim and get out of the car, which is customary when you get into an accident.

Hello StephanieAnnC, that would have happened to if the person is not male. people now a days and how they think they will gonna do to you at night. No one really dares to go at night unless you are a call center agent. though i had some fears when ever i go at night because of my work in the call center before. but i stopped and taking the opportunity to enjoy online earning instead.

This modus operandi is also use by hold up gangs. They will tail their intended victims coming from the bank and them bump there car in the rear to let the unknowing victim to stop and get out of the car, and then they can easily rob the victims of his cash withdrawals and valuables.

The guy was brave performing a citizens arrest himself, they could have been armed and violent and could have been attacked and seriously hurt.I would agree about being careful when leaving your car.In my home country there's been a spate of people being attacked and robbed on rural roads. The robbers leave a car on the side of the road, they leave all the doors open so it looks abandoned and put a baby's car seat on the side of the road but in away you can't see into it.And when people their cars get out to see if anyone has been hurt a couple of guys jump out and beat you up then drive off with your car.

Wow that is just really crazy and bizarre. Im glad everyone is ok in this situation though its just really crazy how people thing they can just have your vehicle and take it away from you. I relly dont understand what is going on through these peoples minds at all just really bizarre i think. I dont think ill ever leave my car if im asking for directions if im lost somewhere ill just park my car, lock it and walk into a business and ask someone there instead of someone on the street walking. I have a GPS though that gets me everywhere and also on my cell phone as well so i dont plan on getting lost anytime soon.

I have known about the story too in the nightly news. He really got lucky that day because he never thought that he will see his car. I think he even look inside the car just to make sure that it's the right one. The police have said about the citizen's arrest. I guess before doing such a thing, one must be sure that he/she can manage to handle the situation if in case something happens. It's good that he was not intimidated by their threatening.

The society just get so polluted with criminals these days. People have to beware and be cautious all the time even when they are at home. In the case of car stealing, we have had similar things happened but they only managed to steal the music player. However, I think it is best not to attempt an arrest on your own if you are not totally sure that you can succeed in doing it. safety should come first.
