MyLot is an excellent pastime

I have seen quite a lot of discussions over the year addressing the amount of time spent on myLot and asking whether or not it might be a waste of time. In fact, I just responded to one. My feeling on this, and the reason I started a new discussion, is that my time is my own to do with as a please. For anyone who has ever been told that myLot is a waste of their time, consider this: Starting and participating in myLot discussions is a no-cost, stress free, leisure activity that I can do at home (in my pajamas if I choose) that allows me to make friends, learn about other cultures, and earn a little money in the process. Where is the wasted time aspect?

Yeah great passtime indeed. Great way to spend time in more productive way. There is nothing wrong and nothing to loss if you participate here so no waste of time here. Better way to spend time in the net than in other sites.

Yes, and a better way to spend time than those people who spend most of their waking hours sitting on the sofa playing video games. At least here we are interacting with others, sharing information, giving advice, etc.

Yes I agree with you ardoy. I would rather stay with myLot than play games. But I think you are staying too much in front of the computer. Your Chicken adobo was already burnt.

People are different in perspectives and needs. Those people that say myLot is a waste of time are those who are looking for money and wants to make a living. People have different desire, gratification and needs and then, people who say that its not a waste of time are those people who are not expecting any money or let us say, they are already satisfied. Money is not their first priority. Their first priority is to have fun, make discussion, have friends and make it as a past time. That is all.

Yes, people are different, they even have different tastes when it comes to leisure and entertainment. Those who are most successful on myLot are those who are having fun.

Yep I agree that you can sit and do a lot of things here and it is not a waste of time. People that say that are the ones that do not want to work hard or have fun. Many are here for money and that is find, but sometimes you have to work hard to get the money that you want. I love it here and I love the fact that I can talk, meet people and make some money on the side. :)

Don't forget make friends from all over the world :-) To me, the thing that makes spending time on the site the most enjoyable is the exchanges you have with people you get to know over time. There are some very funny people on myLot!

Hi Canellita! Actually myLot is not my past time anymore. I become so addicted to this site already so I just cannot live a day without it. Those people who are saying that this site is not worth the time, well, perhaps they are not yet able to find its real value. But for a certified myLot addict like me, myLot is already a part of my day to day activity. Have a nice day!

When I first joined I would spend so many hours posting to discussions! I would say "after this I am going to log off and go to bed," but then I would end up posting more, lol.

It is how we really perceive things, if we see our time is wasted here. I believe that being here is a blessing. Blessing because we received free money here while enjoying and learning. It's also my choice to stay here while waiting for the right moment to start a new career. My husband and I, currently, planning to put up a small business to augment our monthly income. But I think, I will still continue myLot thing even with my new work. Good luck there. Thanks

What do you enjoy most from your time spent on myLot? The good thing is it is here whether you have a lot of time to spend posting or only a little. When you start the new business you will have less time, but you will have more income, so it will balance out, and then you can post whenever you want to catch up with friends or share information.

Well, for those who think that participating in mylot is a waste of time, well, nobody's stopping them from closing the window and quitting. Everyone is free to come and go as they please. We cannot force anyone to do anything, by the same token that we cannot force anyone to respond or not. Anyway, I still think that compared to any other "toxic" social networking sites, mylot is wayyyy better and more beneficial. For one, lesser drama because we have admins who actually block people or delete discussions that will just contaminate the dicussion environment of this site. Also, since quality of discussion is being the main reason for a person to earn something, there is at least some sort of motivation to maintain noteworthy discussions and avoid unnecessary and eye-rolling topics. THere may be a few who tried to inject some negativity here, but of course everyone here does their job of making sure that these are left unreported and unnoticed. In my opinion, I still prefer mylot over any other social networking websites. And I don't think it is a waste of time. I learn a lot here from other participants, I have made some friends, plus I also earn a bit of money.

Bhebelen14 commented that it was a matter of perception. Many people claim social networking sites are a waste of time as well, but to those who use them for SMM they are quite valuable. I just learned something a few minutes ago from being on myLot. Commented on Bhebelen's discussion about getting a hair cut and having a snack of a food I had never heard of, so I looked it up.

For anyone who feels that myLot is a waste of time, is someone who does not understand this site, or has never chosen to give it some time. Personally the longer I am active here, the more I want to be able to find enough FREE time to post in here. I Love having the chance to post and communicate with others from around the world sharing in everyday life and making lots of New friends. I could never imagine being anywhere else.

I agree wholly with you. And besides that,, it has been much more than a friend to me all the time I was on chemo. My oncologist told me that I should not visit or recieve many people as most visits mean extra germs. I am social so all that time my mylot friends meant all the difference in my spotless clean and empty house.

I miss too much my past time in mylot starting lots of funny discussions and getting lots of funny responses. Still read whenever feel bad open the discussion are read the responses then laughed. Learn, earn, enjoy, friends all things are possible in one place. I think no waste of time if we are joining mylot but I think new discussion is not interested and few are same like old. Repeated.

I love it when a myLot discussion makes me laugh! There are some people here who are very funny and interacting with them is always a pleasure. There are so many discussions, it is difficult not to have new ones repeat some of the same topics. All discussions are not seen by everyone though, so it's okay.

I do my myLotting in between doing other things. That is one of the great things about the internet; it allows you to multitask.

Exactly, I do feel more productive in posting into discussions and learning from other people compared to playing other games online or idling in social networking sites. Plus, the earning is in here. Maybe the one who said myLotting is a waste of time isn't really utilizing myLot as it should be. MyLot is a place to have fun while earning. Maybe that individual is focused more on the earning compared to the learning. That can make one think myLot is a waste of time since, really myLot doesn't make anyone rich quick.

Hi friend, you are right, mylot activities never become a waste of time, we have the ability to make money from this great site as well as spend our free time in a good manner by participating in discussions. We can create topics about our doubts and get solution for other experienced persons, really mylot is a great gift to us.

I suppose you could learn a lot just sitting and reading the responses to different discussions since they would tell a lot about the people who are posting. Do you ever do that? Spend the day looking at others' activity?

Some prefer coffee and can't stand tea while others would never be without the other. I guess it's the same here and some think that playing online games, posting on FB or even watching the soaps is less of a waste of time than being here on myLot. I am here as often as I can be and when I reach the pension it is the only place I will be, I have even hooked up with wifi so that I can be out on the balcony inthe summer months while I am here too

I like the interaction, and the income is a nice perk. If I were trying to do it solely for the income it would not be worth my time.

hi canellita pretty name. I was wasting time before I found mylot and feeling like a used up old hag. I had been kicked off the library staff for the shameful thing of being almost 80.I was retired and finally did get my retirement fund. but I felt so unneeded abd unwanted til I found mylot and its made so much happiness for me. I could help others and others could help me also.the ones who fired me were fired for firing me for my age as they had written she is a superb page. anyway the headquarters wanted me to come back but I was in the hosp;ital having smashed nmy left shoulder and had to have a shoulder joint replacement. So that effectively ended my work in the library. so I think mylot is m y haven and my place to relax and post and talk and kibitz too if I want t o.

Thank you Hatley. It means little Canela, though it should have only one "L". That is quite an experience you had. I'm sorry you were forced to retire before you were ready, and even more sorry about your shoulder. It's good you have your retirement money as compensation. Have you discovered any new hobbies in your retirement besides myLot?

Hi Canellita, are you back yet? Mylot has started to pay, and I am searching out for you, Art and MommaJ. I wonder where all of you are hiding now. Please return and let us have a foolish time together. Remember the joke about Mommaj and her cave! Perhaps she is hiding in her cave and bullying the writing ghosts.

We are to start, respond and comment as because we want to earn few cents. At least mylot has inserted and helped develope a sense of responsibility of reading and responding or commenting into our subconciousness. We are fine to be staying in here.

I don't always have time to come in and check for posts and comments, but I do my best to keep up with notifications. Sometimes I can spend an entire day and sometimes I can only spend a few minutes, but I think the time is worth it.
