i know in some countries sim packs are being registered and will expired for one year. but in some countries like in here in the Philippines where i live, sim packs were sold very cheaply by connecting companies. well, to my question in the title above, i changed sim pack if i need to. when there is an annoying person for me and that i want us to lost communication through cellphone, i will cut it by changing sim pack of course. there is an advantage of doing it, you will free yourself from that annoying person. but the disadvantage is that, if the numbers were saved to your sim pack, if you will not transfer it, you will lost them. so now, do have this habit of changing a sim pack? but why? thanks

I don't used to change my cell phones number. I am having my permanent cell phones number. Changing my number on each of the time will create disturbances for others to save our new numbers on each times, MNP facility is available now and I just make use of it. If i am fed up with the existing cell operator

Well here in American some phones don't have sim cards in them at all and others do. When you have a phone with a sim card you don't changed them ever at all. It just gets put into your new phone when it's time for one. I've had the same sim card since I was 15 years old.

All sim card have the ability to save numbers not to the phone but to the card. You can save numbers to your phone but that is using it's memory and not its sim card. Photos are the same way. All cell phones are made the same way now with the same abilities. NO different. When you get a new they don't change your sim card ever normally unless something is wrong with the sim card which is nearly impossiable to damange unless you drop your phone in water.

oh yes there is a certain memory card of the cellphone where you can saved your pictures but the cellphone has its own memory card that can be used in saving numbers. that is why this certain feature would be useful to retain the list of your numbers when you are changing a simpack.. thanks

wow... very consistent. oh yes, there is certain feature in some of the phone that you can save the numbers to phone and into the sim card. sometimes i need to save it to both memories so that when i need to change sim card, the number will retain and can be browsed for it is just in the phone as you saved it there. thanks for joining here :O)

I prefer to keep the same number, which is known to a lot of friends and family. The last time that I changed my number was because I changed my service provider, which really gave me little option. I have been on contract with Orange now for over 10 years, so my number has not changed at all during this period. The actual SIM itself has been changed, usually once every 18 months or so, because I often upgrade my mobile phone and am issued with a new SIM card. However, all the information on the SIM remains the same.

I have only changed sim cards, when I changed my phone, as I have kept the same number for six years. I just bought a new phone a week ago, and the sim card whas changed because it needed to be a smaller one. Also, my sim card will get upgraded when need be, which really isn't all that much. Take care, and have a very good day.

it depends on the person, my sisters always changes sim pack and has loads of different numbers, i don't why she constantly changes them. it is kind of confusing already too regarding her numbers. as for me, i always stick to my sim card and would not like changing and having different kinds of sims and number. maybe, you could take the numbers of those important people on your old sim before discarding and changing the old one, so you can just enter it again on the new sim. how about that?

yes you are right, depends on a situation. but that thing dear is confusing, inserting many sim cards exchangeably in one cellphone which i cannot allow myself to happen. it is much misdirecting and much confusing to your friends compared changing your number. thanks for joining :)

I never change sim cards. It is a hassle to register again all the numbers and tell everyone that you have a new number. If there's an annoying person, you can always block/reject the number on your phone. If he/she uses another number, block it again.

I have a postpaid account, so I guess I don't really have a reason to change SIM cards unless the SIM card is damaged or my phone's stolen. And I think wouldn't change often also if I had a prepaid account. I know that nowadays SIM packs are very affordable, but changing them once too often would be like spending on unnecessary things. But you're right though that it does have some advantages like ridding yourself of an annoying person. With regards to losing the saved numbers, why not consider buying a phone with a huge memory. SIM cards, especially the prepaid ones, have a somewhat small capacity for storage.

hi there missjahn, i seldom change simcard since i do have a lot of clients to notify if i have done it. though there are times, i do encounter people which is quite annoying plus receiving a frank calls but, i am just trying to prolonged my patience in this instance. aside from that, i am just ignoring those calls by turning off my mobile whenever they attempt calling me. in that way, i come to think not to change simcard anymore.

Nice question and I know most of the persons changed their sim card frequently but I not changed since 5 years. My number is same and I dont like to change the number again and again. Because relatives and friends are face the problem when number is changed. I know most of the companies offer free sim so people take the benefit.

I started having cell phones after my 55+. so the reasons that come in your age are not there for me and I have not changed numbers. On the contrary i am keen on retaining old numbers so that people will remember contacts and that will help in my profession,

oh yes, i agree with you for that. the disadvantage of changing your sim card is that the person who needs to contact you cannot reach unless that person can ask your new number. but for me, i know those people who are important to me. and those people need to know my number and shall be informed in times i changed my number at that. thanks sir ravs

I don't have good reasons to change my sims so often. My number are already parts of my relatives, friends and business associates. So changing sims will be more inconvenience and therefor not advisable for my part. You have a good reason in changing your sims but this will not be reasonable to most people. Have a nice day. Ciao!

Dear Missjahn, I don’t change my SIM frequently, I have changed my SIM card few years back as my previous network was giving trouble to me because of the signals. I really can't afford to change the SIM cards very often as my contact number will be missed by most of the people whom with I deal on day today basis in by business. I then have to change my number at many places including on our Office web site. That is why I am not really interested in changing my SIM Card very often. Well, in India we have got a facility now if you want to change your service provider you can change the company by simply retaining your old number. So in case if I face any signal problems then I will just change my Company instead of changing the SIM card by retaining the same number. I really don't have any problems of getting annoying calls from unknown person so I really don't have to bother about this aspect. Thanks for the discussion I liked participating in it!

Well, here in Italy, the mobile phone system, it works the same way. You can change the phone number, maybe even the same telephone company. The discourse of stored telephone numbers, just move them from the sim to the phone memory. Of course, the disadvantage the fact remains that all those who know you with that number, you have to tell them that you have changed and also your new number.

i have friends who used postpaid plan but what they do not encounter some problems in using it like using excessive loads from your limit plan, they used to transfer the sim card to another cellphone and this cellphone they used is with another simcard. well, those postpaid that has cellphone plan into it and that after two years of paying to the credits, you can have cellphone on your own. thanks :O)

I have not changed my SIM since the first time I ever owned the Nokia 3210 and that was about 12 years ago. I have had my share of irritating texts and scam messages but I never ever thought about changing my SIM. I don't find any reason to do so even if there are those prank calls. I simply ignore them and it looks like they have grown tired of texting and calling. Some texts, I don't even bother reading so as not to be affected. If there are calls from unknown numbers, I simply don't reply. The reason why I don't change numbers are the friends and relatives who are familiar with my number. If there is an emergency, they won't be able to contact me if I change my number as often as some people do.
