Whether or not to purchase Windows 8 is obviously a personal decision, but the fact that you are using a desktop should not be a deterrent. I am currently running the Windows 8 evaluation system on my desktop and I have had no problems with it at all. There has been a lot of publicity about Windows 8 being designed with tablets in mind, which I assume is the cause of your concern. The fact remains that Windows 8 is perfectly usable with a mouse, which is what I am using at the present. The touchscreen compatability is an additional feature and not a replacement for the standard user approach. Like all previous upgrades, Windows 8 will take a little while to become accustomed to the new interface and way of working, but I had very little issues and am seriously considering purchasing the upgrade for my laptop.

It really depends on you sir. If you're a gamer or just for office use. Any Operating system will do but then, nice specs out there.

Basing from what i read and heard from others, this new OS seem to target the emerging touch screen generation that is fast becoming popular this days. That is why many are saying this new OS is applicable to many smartphones and tablets. But I think it can still be used for desktops and laptops that does not have the capability of touchscreens as well. You can still use the mouse to hover around. I think you will just need to adjust to the new look and features of this and might get lost along the way since this is far different to the many versions of Windows had in the past years. The decision is really on you if you want to avail of the new system. I think you should ask yourself what is your purpose in replacing your old OS with a new one.

Well, it sounds like your hardware will handle the upgrade to Win 8. I myself has not tried the new program yet. I like to see and hear how others like the new OS. I have had trouble in the past upgrading to quickly and loose some important things. I like the two here that I have read that has tried it. Giving you how and what they have experienced so far with the new program. From what they have said sounds good so far. I haven't decided yet either..

Hello It is all up to you. Windows 7 is also good operating system and it is having all features which require. So it is surely not necessary to go for windows 8. But it is new operating system and personally I always love to go for new technology. So if you want to go for something new and latest than you can go for new operating system, otherwise for work purpose windows 7 is good too.

hi it depends to your needs memo, but your machine is not bad for the recent technology today, I am sure that after 2 years you have to upgrade your windows machine. Because honestly windows 8 is simplified from the previous windows. It is very friendly user You can kill off the not responding application running instantly, no more question for that. And because of the windows 7 errors windows 8 learn from this, they make more adjustment from windows 7 to windows 8. But for now, just enjoy your machine.. For any reference what's more with this windows 8

I just bought a windows 8 pro upgrade last October. Actually, the main selling point for me is the price, because of the special offer that's available until Jan 31, 2013. You could buy a windows 8 pro upgrade for just 39.99 usd, 69.99 usd for retail and 14.99 usd if you bought a win 7 laptop/desktop recently. I must say, I'm impressed with the overall looks and performance of windows 8. Though it took me quite a while to get used to some of the new ways of interacting with Windows. The start screen, will surely surprise users, because it's giving your computer the feeling of a tablet but only with a keyboard and mouse. Nevertheless, it's not a reason, not to try windows 8. Hurry, upgrade now to windows 8 pro because after the limited sale offer, I read somewhere that the retail price of windows 8 will be 169.99 usd. I personally am very satisfied with my purchase, since I just paid 14.99 for a new OS that's really cool.
