Chest pains another symptom

I was at work yesterday and I got sudden sharp chest pains. I let it go for awhile thinking it would go away. Finally the girl I worked with told me she was calling an ambulance, I tried talking her out of it as now I;m stuck with a $150.00 ambulance bill. I tried talking her into letting me drive to thehospital, or find someone to drive me (since they charge you ridiculous amount for the fee). The girl I was working with was flipping out more than I was. I wasn't worried at all since I do get similar pains justs not as bad. 8 hours later I got to go home, they ran a butt load of tests and came back that it;s all caused by the low iron, and since I am going toomorrow for the infusions they let me go home. Just means more stress over trying to pay the ambulance bill now.

I didn't even come out and say I was in pain. I lifted a bag of food and got this sharp pain. She just happened to be standing there, when I was making faces, and was clearly in pain. Bu t many are right it's better to get it checked out, and it could of been something serious.

I know that it's the duty of the managment etc to call an ambulance if it's severe enough for you to mention it and it affect your work. Heck I think if it had anything to do with the heart they'd do it anyhow. It's annoying that you had to go in an ambulance, and annoying that you'll have to find a way to pay the bill, but atleast it wasn't more serious.

I get this all the time, but they were wanting me to lift a 50 pounds bag of dog food which made it worse. Which is the only reason why they figured it out. Usually it passes in a few hours.

Oh my, what a different world you live in to me. I'm (nearly) ashamed to say that we never, ever pay for an ambulance over here. $150.00? That's INSANE! Glad you're OK though.

Well, at least your co-worker was concerned about you! You should never take chest pains for granted. I have really bad anxiety problems and with that I have symptoms of a light stroke. Even though when I have the symptoms and I think that it's just anxiety, I'd rather have a doctor bill and know what is wrong.

I guess, it was best to know. I know I've had them in the past, and didnt die so I just assumed.I remember a girl in college had the same issue as you and was always in the hospital.

I agree... chest pains are not something you fool with. This way you know what is going on, for real.

Sudden chest pains could be anything, it's not always heart related. I agree with you, I would be upset over having a huge bill to pay off with no money. Hum, low iron, that's interesting. My dad has heart problems and I never heard his low iron count upsetting it. I agree, stress can bring on a lot of problems along with chest pains. The girl should have seen that you could have driven to the hospital. I would have said your paying for it,

I didn't know that you have to pay the ambulance fee if you call for an ambulance. I've traveled in an ambulance before; twice. Once was when I was very young. The hospital had to transfer me to another hospital so I was brought to the second hospital by ambulance. The second time I traveled in an ambulance was when I was involved in a car accident but I wasn't charged for any ambulance fee. I guess if you called for the ambulance then you'll be charged but I didn't call for the ambulance so I guess I wasn't charged. I hope that you're much better now and take care of yourself. Take more iron. Eat red meat. That would increase the iron in your body or you can always ask the doctor for iron pills.

Looking at your age, I would not be thinking that you would have a heart attack anytime soon, but heart attack can occur at any younger age. $150 may stink a little bit, but at least you are going to be fine. Does it run in the family if I may ask?

Yes, the management did the right thing, at some extends collapsed lung can also cause chest pains as well. It can happen to anyone! It to me few time! However, why wouldn't the company pay for the ambulance! That's totally unfair!

It is good to know that nothing real serious is causing the chest pains. I guess your co-worker got really worried that something might happen to you. Don't worry about the bill that you need to pay. You could earn that back. Your safety is the primary concern.

My friend, I think you're experiencing angina or chest pain. Do you have heart problem, if you do. Then you need to consult a doctor right away. We need to be preventive in case like this.

Hi 911Ricki, wish you speedy recovery and take care. Well, since it happens during the working hours, you might as well try to claim under your company expenses. Tell your colleague not to do things independently which causes you more cost and burdening you. But i suppose, the girl is just worried that something might happen to you, so she calls the ambulance. In a nut shell, do have a balance diet. And since you are lack of iron, you can eat seafood; leafy veges like spinach and broccoli; fruits like dates, prunes and raisins; dried goods like cashews, hazelnuts and almond; and many others. These food are all rich in iron content. Otherwise, you can buy some iron supplements for your daily consumption. =)

Well i can't blame the girl you're working with, chest pains are the first synptoms in having a heart attack so its an emergency case. Just take iron supplements to correct your insufficiency. Hopefully you wont have another chest pain for your ambulance bill. lol :)

I know you have an expensive bill now, but what if you ignored the chest pains? what if you had carried on regardless and it could have been far more severe. It's our bodies way of telling us there is something wrong and to ignore it at our peril. At least you have found out why you got the chest pains in the first place, if it happens again you will at least know what the problem is and hopefully won't have another ambulance bill on your hands.

good thing that you went to the doctors. a co-worker of mine ended having a severe type of virus. she was like you, she had chest trouble but her problem was that she was having but they ended up admitting her and she was in the hospital for a number of days, had a lung biopsy done and had everything tested but nothing turned up. hope you feel better soon.

I am sorry you are stuck with a $150 ambulance bill, but I am glad that she was concerned enough about your health and safety to make the call. You could have been severely injured had a major chest pain hit you while you were driving had you driven yourself. I am a stubborn person and I probably would have put up a fight about getting an ambulance called as well.

If she didn't call and something tragic happened to you, she would blame herself for a lifetime. She was doing what she felt was right. Of course we don't like those Bills they are expensive. What you need to do is sit them down and explain what is going on with you and see if you all can come up with an alternative way to make sure you get the care you need without incurring the huge costs. Just an idea for you and those that work with you. Would be good to do something like this for at home too. This way you know you will be taken care of if something happens you can't control.

I am glad that you are okay.. The girl was just worried about your health. She proably didnt realize how much a trip to the hosiptal by ambulance can cost.. Lucky it was only 150; that is rather cheap; I have seen a bill that was over 3,000 just to go a couple miles.. The equipment that was used was the extra expense.. I know money is tight for you; just take it one day at a time; if need be moment by moment.. The more you stress over it the more you are going to get yourself worried sick; literally.. Its not cool to have lots of bills that keep piling up; but stressing yourself out will only make the situation worse.. God Bless you; and try to find some of the happy things in life to help you through
