I just learned that the main actor will be changed in the movie Transformers 4. I prefer to the original actor much more. If he is changed, it seems that it will be a brand new movie rather than a movie series. It is just like the movie Speed. I don't like Speed 2 because the actor is not Keanu Reeves.

Oh,i did not even watch the 3rd one since they changed the actress too. And now they are changing the MAIn actor? That is just bad, i guess the viewers of this movie would decline.. unless they get a more famous one..
Anyway, i hate it too- when they change actors in sequels..
Especially if you already like the actors laying the character.. it just ruins the movie.
Like in the last movie in the Mummy Series.. they had very little chemistry.

Youless, indeed changing of the main actor could affect the movie a lot. I always prefer to see the same actor acting for the same movie. If they change the actor, the movie seems not as interesting as the former one. Because every actor have their own way of acting. i wonder why they want to change the main actor for Transformers 4?

This is always a problem when the original actor does not play the part in a sequel. Despite how well the replacement actor portrays the character, he will not manage to replace the original. This is because we already know the appearance and the voice of the character and our perception is already bound by it. If you sawe the second film first then the original actor would seem wrong when you watched the first film.
The same occurs when we read a book then watch a film based on it. We create our own image of the character, which cannot be reproduced on film. If we watch a film first then we relate to the character when reading the book, so the problem does not occur.

Now that is where we differ my friend I do not like Keanu Reeves, I thought Speed and Speed2 were lower than average films and a bit far-fetched. I am not a transformers fan. I remember watching the first one with my father and after about 30 minutes both of us agreed that we would rather watch something else. So I won't be rushing to see Transformers 4, especially as I haven't seen the 2nd and 3rd instalment, just not my sort of film.

I agree to an extent. I did not appreciate the new Spiderman in the Amazing Spiderman. I guess it is because we kind of start feeling familiar with the older cast and any change in it does seem to distract. Even the Pirates of the Caribbeans - 4 wasnt that great only because I felt the change in the cast.
harry potter and the Lord of the Rings series were always long but the biggest plus was that they were able to maintain the same cast and that is why many still felt it like watching the sequels as the same from the books.
