At an Early Age

Parents should monitor their children as they grow up. Teach them things that are right and training them to be independent. I have a three year old son who are very dear to me. Someone told me that I should teach him now about the Good News and about the words of God. I'm so happy to hear that and I want to teach and tell about God to my son. We always pray everyday and he knows how to say "amen" already. What do you think are the things that parents can teach already to his children at an early age? and what could be right age for teaching some things? Thanks in advance.

Amen! :) This is very true! And I completely agree.. I am actually a Sunday School Teacher for Kids :) I have ages 1 and half to 12 on my class and it's always good to teach them God's word for them to know what's right and wrong, in the sight of God and sight of human eye.. Aside from teaching them short Bible verse, teaching them Kiddie Christian songs (with actions) is a good way of sharing God's word and good news! :) Surely they'd have fun doing these dances when they are with friends/cousins on groups.. :) God bless!!

That is great. You are a Sunday school teacher. It is good to teach children about God even at an early age. Thanks for that. I bring my son at Sunday school and he enjoys going there. I also heard him at times the words taught by his teacher. And I'm so happy when he talks about Jesus. :-) Thanks for your effort of teaching the children. God Bless

Well my two year old goes to Sunday school every Sunday. They sing songs, read Bible stories and make little projects. She loves it!

If he's able to speak in sentences, I think you could already teach him things, even the concept of God, since he could also already ask questions. You just need to put it in very simple words that he could easily understand.

I honestly don't think that there is a concrete age that is the right age to teach children different things. Instead, I think that it is something that depends on the nature of the child. However, you are talking about God here and I think that the words of God should be shared with a child from the time that they are born. When they are very young they will not understand, but as they get older, they will begin to ask questions and having taught them from the time that they were young, you will be better equipped to answer those questions.

Yes, you are right. Even at an early age, the child must know about God already. Thanks for your response.

Thanks for this discussion.I agree with you, what we teach at young age lasts for ever, babies are like wet clay and we parents have to mold them , i too tell them stories from our epic-Ramayan and Mahabharat They grow religious and decent persons.

I think its important to raise your child with high standards right from the start, its the only way they will do well in life. Too many people these days are dragging their children up instead of raising them and its the children and society that suffer for it.

Yes, we should monitor and mentor them as early as possible. To my dismay, I was not able to do so because I was pre-occupied with good and not-so-good things. Now that my 3 kids are in their teens and far away from me (since I'm abroad and working), I make it a point to lecture them on life and their decisions every now and then. It may sound like a broken record but I hope they will remember and make the right things right!

hi, for me i think the right age to teach our child is at the early age that they can absorb it,my parents mold us to have a good manner and attitude and also gave education to learn more, even about God also taught us and at home we learned how to pray.

Hi friend, you are right, parents must teach the good things to their kids in their early stage. Parents are the role model to the kids and kids learn a lot of things from their parents activities. Raising a kid is not an easy task. We must be careful in each and every sort to guide our kid in a good way. Mostly kids will reflect most of their parents activities and attitudes as they are watching all the parents activities keenly and observe a lot of things from it. We must teach a lot of good things to our kids in their childhood days, it will register in their minds and keep them throughout their life
