There has never been an unacceptable reason for me not to be here. Well, internet is prohibited here and I accept that very much. When I go home, internet connection is sometimes very slow, that I couldn't accept but couldn[t do something about it. So, I use my phone, much slower but at least, it sends my comments and responses in due time. This past 3 days, there's one thing that stops me from being so active here. On the first day, I had some sore throat and went sorse until now that I'm really having a bad cough. I cough like every other minute. Calamansi juice didn't help me that much. My throat is itchy, my eyes are sleepy, and my body is aching, these avoids me to be here. So, aside from me asking you some advice on cough remedies, what are those tasks or feelings or sickness or whatever it is that avoids you to be here on mylot? **please don't advice me to drink medicines, I hate them.

Hi beli- This shows that you are really not well and that is a common problem to take place on weekends (with you especially) I suggest you take care and have a good rest. Beli- you are taking too much pain in such extreme conditions with your net connection slow, health so critical and even juice of Calamansi not working. I would certainly call you a very brave (shrewd)girl if you'll continue your replies here, you know what I mean. (Look I am not saying your symptoms are serious as these are not serious really)Cheers.

Slow connection is at home, now, I'm in the office and the bosses aren't here too so I can bravely reply to you. I was browsing some posts and wanted to comment on them but I keep on coughing and cannot think good. So i thought to just make it as a discussion. Anyways, I won't be thinking of something to say here since I made this myself. This isn't serious for you because you really don't take my illnesses seriously and I understand that very much. It's okay with me, I'm used to it. Anyways, your term is critical and I never intended it to be that way.

Beli- ypu should not be working on weekends especially while you are so critically ill. I am so shocked to read it that you are taking so much pain even while your hands are shaking and to to top it all you do not want to take any med. Too bed for you. I think you should immediately leave your office especially while bosses are not around. Nah, don't think that way, I am beginning to take your illness seriously serious. Take care beli do not exaggerate your problems.

Too bad you're the one exaggerating my problems. Making it critical and serious. My hands are shaky when I take meds. I only have cough, other than that, I'm good.

Water and lots of rest usually does the trick. But if you've been coughing for three days as you've said, I think it's time that you see a doctor already. Sometimes it's not that advisable for us to self-medicate since we might be making whatever illness we have worse instead.

Yup, three days already. The first day was just fine and thought it was just a sore throat so I bought some strepsils to relieve it. But then went worst on the next day and it's so difficult to swallow early in the morning. I have to gargle with salt water. Been drinking lots of water too but rest, i'm not sure if I'm having that quite recently. Actually, I don't trust the doctors here. they just give me expensive medicines but still will take me few more days to get well. Anyways, I will try to self-medicate with water every now and then. Thanks! So, what are those things that stops you from being here?

Sorry, I thought it was a rhetorical question of some sort . Lack of time actually. I have a full-time job and a small business on the side. Sometimes I'm surprised that I'm able to make responses here.

Well, it's a two-way because it was half to be on the health interest and half for mylot. Sorry if I sounded confusing or what. But I intentionally put those two to make it under this interest. Anyways, I can see your schedule is very hectic and it's really a suprise that you're here every once in a while. Do you make surprising earnings too?

Hi there, sis! I have been quite inactive for the past two days because I had dinner with my husband's family the other night. It was my brother in law's birthday. And then yesterday, I had to be at my kid's school for some Parent School Partnership Program that took me all morning and then in the afternoon until early evening I was at the mall. Well, I wasn't really planning to go back to the mall after having lunch there with my parents but I feel I needed to be outside with my sisters in law to unwind. I have literally stuck myself on the bed with my laptop for the past months and seldom do I really get a chance to go out. Hey, drinking kalamansi usually do not work. It could cause you to cough more coz the acid irritates your throat. Much better if you just take in plain water instead.

Acid irritates my throat??? Oh my gosh... that's why I keep on coughing and it's really itchy. I almost surrender drinking water everytime it becomes itchy because I always have to take a pee. Anyways, you have had a lot in the past two days and it's good to have yourself a little unwinding with relatives and friends. Two days isn't that long and now you're back here again to enjoy. Coming holidays will surely make me unable to visit here. I will be very busy on the 3rd~4th week of December.

It might not be working that good on you most especially if you are taking it cold, are you? My kids' pediatrician do not actually require my kids to drink those juices coz it doesn't help that much. But I hope that you should be getting better if you try ginger ale, instead. And also, I just wanna share you this: http://abcnews.go.com/Health/ColdandFluQuestions/story?id=6434208 (not a referral link)

Oh my, I have tried all of them. On the night that I have a feeling of having a sore throat, I bought some strepsils. Then the next morning, I can’t swallow properly so I gargled with warm water with salt the moment I woke up and drank calamansi juice in the morning. Now I continue drinking with lots of water. But I can’t eat very well because it causes me to cough more.

Well, it seems that it's your cough causing the sore throat. So, you must have a medication for your cough.

My sore throat caused me cough I think. Well, anyways, later I will buy another lozenges. Somebody suggested fisherman's friend and I want to try that. What anti-biotic would you recommend? Or any cough medicine?

Hi adnileb oh dear and you dont need suggestions on medicines to drink. Okay, I have found some Natural healers or you can call them soothers as your condition seems to have aggravated. Hope you would like any of the 5 mentioned on this page - http://www.naturalnews.com/035323_home_remedies_colds_coughs.html As for me staying away from mylot... hmm.. during the past I have been away from here because of - I was stranded in a village during floods, I was on some horrible medicines and was sleeping for 18+ hours a day, I was hurt by someone here, and again, I think I am hurt by something here again... And of course desides these there are my health trips to Hyderabad (a different city about 1200 kilometers away). I would suggest you consult a doctor and take some rest for a day or two... get well and return back here. Good Health is importand dear. Take care

I hate medicines. I feel so weak when I drink them, I‘m having shaky hands for a while especially when the medicine is quite strong. That’s why I hate drinking any kind. Well, as for your natural remedy, I’m afraid the site is blocked here in the office and maybe I could open it later on my phone and try something from there when I go home. I was hurt by someone here, and again, I think I am hurt by something here again. I am a bit curious about this and wondering who would that be? Who’s that someone who will hurt my dear sids?

@sid- sorry to read sid that you too are not well and having problems. You too take care and do not think much, just take them in your stride and you'll see that every thing is fine. Let me know who and what is bothering you.

#adnileb: Ah no problem. That page mentions drinking sme kinds of tea (Mullein tea) for cough and congestion, Chicken Soup as an antiviral and Raw honey and lemon for sore throats besides others. #praaji: I am feeling better in health but am worried about the arthritis as winters are just days ahead... and I know I should not be thinking about the ills here anytime. & for both: for the hurt by something - PMs are great for such things, dear ones.

Hi friend, sad to hear that you are not feeling well, wish you to have speedy recovery. Some times i don't get time for mylotting activities due to my business deals, but i try to manage to post at least a comment or reply in this site to fulfill my day.

It doesn't bother me much but i am just so annoyed while I cough especially when the surrounding is quiet then I will cough out loud. Maybe I'd go for lots of water than go to the doctor. Thanks much!

So far I have not been caught by the flu or cough virus . Not for this year yet. Touchwood! I made sure that my immune system are well taken care of by popping in various food supplements. At my age (not that am old) I have to start caring for my health. It is a common knowledge that old age diseases like to lick on an aging body. I always ensure that my health comes first before anything else. Since you are not in favor of taking medicine for your cough so the best option is to take fishermen's friend. It can relieve cough much faster than over the counter cough syrups. Have been here for six long years and the only time am unavailable here is when I am on holidays abroad otherwise I eat and sleep in mylot.

Fisherman's friend is a popular lozenges for cough. It us quite popular here anvd available everywhere here. It is more like a candy and no fear of ovedose. No am not going off this year end hols. Its peak season but would be going round my country in April then to Thailand and Vietnam. Flying is cheap now with airAsia. I am just taking advantage of the cheapish flight offered by airAsia.

Okay, I might take a look at that lozenge later when I go home. Is it really effective to heal the itchiness? Anyways, I would to have some vacation in other countries too but I just can't find the cheapest deal on some airlines. Maybe I need to save more so I'd rather find the cheaper and not the cheapest. Are there lots of beautiful places to see in your country?

If you can, get some peppermint tea and drink it. You can also just suck on a peppermint - provided you aren't allergic. This will help with the sore throat and does help a bit with the cough. As for what keeps me from being here? I guess a lot of times it's muse, sometimes it's work...

I'm afraid there's no peppermint around. But been drinking lots of juices with vitamin C. I gargle every morning with salt water and drinking lots of water in a day too. I hope I can find that peppermint here somewhere. thanks..

I hope you can as well or something equally as effective to help you to get better and be able to be here more. I can understand not really being able to type on the phone with all that sneezing and not feeling well either. Get well soon, okay?

Thanks.. Sadly, I wasn't able to look for any peppermint. Now, I just woke up, still in my bed with my phone. Maybe later I will try cooking chicken soup as some here said it's good for cough.

oh so sorry to hear that. try to eat some ginger. sip its juices into your mouth like a candy. just cut some little amount of it smaller than a regular size candy. this one will help medicate your sore throat that caused you from coughing. aside from that rub some liniments into the chest and back part of your body to remove the gas pains and to lighten the tightness of breathing if may so. hope these tips wil help you to get well of your illnesses. well the thing that barred me from joining in mylot everyday is that my schooling for getting busy now. we have wifi at home and the connection is at least okay and we can used pc. and now since i am not at home i do used my cellphone for getting online. much better than having nothing. thanks

I don't think I can take the taste of fresh ginger. But I do put some liniment on my back the other day because of body pain. Maybe later I will put again before going to sleep. I cooked chicken tinola for lunch with lots of ginger, pepper and chili for my cough. I don't feel any better, it's still the same like yesterday. Right now my throat is itchy. Do you know any remedy aside from fresh ginger? Tomorrow = Monday ..time to work again

oh m y it sounds like you have t he flu. try to eat some hot chicken noodle soup whenever you can. I hate to upset you but if your throat gets worse you might have a strept throat and only antibiotics will cure it so dont tough it out if it gets very painful., gargle with hot salt water not too hot of course as it will help heal your throat.also do drink plenty of fluids, ice water helped me when I had a very bad sore throat. For me lately I have had IBS abdominal cramps and I had to take 3 Ibuprofen and lie down, I do just take some medications when I have to.,also do check with your doctor if this goes on too long.Warm tea is also good for sore throats and the fluids are essential to break up a cold or the flu .

Flu? But I don't have fever yet. Will it be still a flu? I'm not sure of the strept throat but I do hope this will not get worst. I do gargle every morning with warm salt water since i'm having a difficulty in swallowing. It relieves me much. I think I'd go to drinking anibiotics later. Wish I have some tea here but all I have is different kinds of coffee. I haven't eaten enough for my breakfast because the bread I was eating makes me cough more.

Well drinking hot tea could help, especially a good green tea. And maybe try some ricola cough drops. They taste good not like medicine. I also don't bother with the computer when I am not feeling good. I would rather rest. I know coming here is a big part of me, but when we are sick we do need rest.
