Hungover :(

If anyone has noticed I've been missing from myLot for a few days, I'm ashamed to say that it is because on Monday I was so hungover I couldn't even think of powering up the computer (and Tuesday I was too busy catching up with all the stuff I hadn't done on Monday!). We went out to our local bar on Sunday afternoon as we normally do (it's the hub of our local community and also our local shop before anyone gets the idea that I spend all my time in there drinking!) and a couple of the locals were a little the worse for wear having had an afternoon sampling the first wine of the year. Of course, when they've had a few cups themselves they want to share and I ended up drinking one too many glasses of wine in a very short period of time. Before eating too, which is of course something I should know better than to do. Anyway, sad result is that I was sick as a dog and completely incapable for most of Monday. Our own wine does not have this effect on me, but had no additives in it. I should be more wary of cheap shop bought stuff. Have you ever had a hangover from hell? Did you learn?! Have you got any tips for any sad myLotters who may be feeling the worse for wear today?

I've had one hangover. I learned. I have never in the last 40 years had another one.

Well, I haven't experienced it before because I limit or I always drink moderately. But did you know that there was an article in Yahoo that says that you can actually avoid having it? try to read it my friends so that you can avoid experiencing it next time.

My best tip is to pace yourself, and control yourself. I did a little experiment on myself, a few years ago. I got myself a bottle of vodka, and found a weekend when I would not have to go anywhere. I started drinking, and writing down how I felt, after I had each drink. I published the results on line in a blog. When I started to feel like I should stop drinking, I stopped!! I recored how much I'd had to drink by that time, and I REMEMBERED THAT! Now whenever I go out drinking, I stick to my limit, and nothing anyone ever says can make me go over my limit.

Good trick! But how much you can stomach varies from day to day, depending on so many factors. I drank actually one MORE at the bar yesterday afternoon than I did on the evening in question, and I was absolutely fine, cooked dinner and did my evening chores and am up and about with not even a hint of a headache this morning.

yup....a long time ago. I resigned from a job and everyone went out to celebrate...the next morning I swore someone had left an axe in the middle of my forehead it hurt so bad! That is basically the last time that I did drink..learned my lesson...between the axe in my forehead feeling I threw up all the expensive steak I ate the night before..what a waste of good money!

Good. Well done. I often think you need to let your hair down more! Yes I have been very hungover in the past and I have been positively embarrassing both to myself and others. The worst occasion, no not the worst, but an embarrassing occasion, was when I was drinking With some junior doctors close to the Middlesex hospital in London many years ago. There was one young lady there wearing a summer dress, because that was the season, and I unzipped her and started to take it off her. I am blushing crimson with embarrassment at the mere thought of it!

What do you expect if you go drinking with junior doctors? That's just begging for trouble
