I had always wanted to have penfriends and however much I tried I hardly got a couple or two with whom I kept in touch. Those days we could only write letters and it took eons to communicate. But I never gave up hope. And today thanks to myLot I am in touch with the world communicating with jet speed, back and forth with users who are here from all parts of the globe. My dream is fulfilled!

The internet has indeed made things faster, including communicating with friends. And there are a lot of ways to do so, myLot being one of them. And what's nicer is that even if we don't know personally the person, we however feel a sense of connection since we all share a passion for discussing things however trivial those things are.

Thanks for saying that as I am Filipino myself Anyway, it's really great to be here in mylot as we are pen friends with people worldwide. I would say Mylot has an active participation in globalization.

Before I cam here the only thing I knew about Philippines was about Imelda Marcos and the number of pairs of shoes she had! Now I know much more. Filipinos are a friendly lot and that is what I learnt after being here!

I always wanted a penfriend which is part of the reason I signed up for Mylot. I love talking to different people from different parts of the world. I used to have my cousin as a pen friend but for some reason it stopped, I really enjoy writing and sharing experienced with people. I guess this is similar now and instant. Glad IM not the only person that enjoys that kinda thing, because it seems to be less and less popular now.

I looked at your profile and see that you are from the UK. I have visited your country but could not do justice as we were there only for two days. It was a package tour covering Europe. Here at myLot we have the possibility to connect with practically all the continents, surely something I could not have thought would ever be possible!

Having "penfriends" was part of my educational system, and one that we vigorously persued, as at the end of the year, a presentation was to be made on the "penfriends" country and culture...but I must admit that it did go "by the bye" in my adolescence...so am, too, truly enjoying the "instant" pen friendship offered by sites like this (and this is really the only one that I have high participation in)as the standards seem much higher! Off the rock, early this morning for a shopping trip to the big smoke (City)..hate these days as they are 12+ hours long of hustle, bustle and travelling!

HOW MANY invites do you need..dear friend???? I've invited you to ROMP in the snow, STOMP in the grapes...and now an Ocean journey (of which I now have learned to look upon with great distaste!) A total of 5 hours "upon the briny" in the dark, as here on the Wet (West) coast..daylight NOW only graces us from 7:30 a.m. 'til 4:30 p.m....and the shortest day of the year is yet to come.... Mother Nature is cruel this time of the year...doling out the sun, in very small dribs and drabs...possibly that's why my personality becomes so dark, and unpredictable..LOL!!!! No, town treks are a marathon..and being so unused to the "throngs" of humanity, I sometimes feel like a caged wild animal! So used to having my own breathing space! Invite wide open...and even in the mellow days of summer..I can find you snow to play in! OFF to get "dolled" up for my debut into civilization..haha!

My travelling anywhere has come to a standstill as I am not confident after my accident. I so wanted to see Alaska. But if I am destined to, then you will see me romping with you, one day!

Am I not glad that I bumped into you here!. Your flowery language and your grape romping experience is so unique perga. I have never come across anyone with your kind of colourful lifestyle and what you consider grueling - that trip to the city - I would do anything to get that experience!

Yes-- my dream as well. Lots of things have gone wrong in the world that I don't remember, but the internet, and Mylot, are definitely all right with me So much more reliable and faster than regular mail---though I do miss collecting postage stamps from far away places...it used to be fun. But this way, none of us miss a thing, and we don't have to wait for the mailman which is good.

Yep, we are unique here, for sure... But I still miss stamps. Getting letters used to be nice too, as a matter of fact.

Yes chrys.. so much more reliable and that is the pivot on which myLot revolves. This you will not find in any of the other scores of social networking sites that are floating around. I too miss those stamps which I used to collect in the good old days. I don't even know where my album has disappeared.. I too don't get to see those red and blue striped envelopes that the mail man used to deliver in the 'mouse' less era!

Most of the mail I get these days is about my investments and some magazines that I have subscribed to. And about this 'collecting mania' stamps, dried flowers, match box pictures were the only ones that were collected in the good old days but today sky is the limit. I have collected shampoo, and conditioner bottles that are given to us at 5 star hotels. As you know, I have travelled a lot and so I would always get those little bottles back home but use my own soap while on travel!

It's really fun isn't it? I know what you're saying about getting to know and meet the entire globe just about. I've made many friends here and enjoy them all. They show so many characteristics and personalities you can almost tell who they are just by how they start their discussions. It's fun. I still write out my Birthday and Christmas cards though, lol!, so I do get in some writing along the way. I just think it's more personal and it's still fun to get something in the mailbox, instead of an email.

The only time I write is when I make check lists for shopping and chores that need to be done around the house for those who are helping us around and ofcourse I write cheques! Everything else my mouse does including creating greeting cards. There is so much we learn here about people all around the world but strangely I notice we all have same emotions, same aspirations, same whatever.....

'Tis morning here, dear Bro, and so nice to see you here! YES...this site has "really opened up the universe" for me...and created for me a "snug little warm community" of spectacular friends and family, of which I anticipate, each day, a little touch of their warmth and charm in my real world! Twice, I had attempted to "g-mail" you, dearheart...somehow I entered in my address book wrong...It was thanking you for the lovely DiWali card...and the very touching PM! Truly, heartfelt thanks, as it gave me great strength, and courage!

Is it not really marvelous the way we can have friends from India to B ritian to Thailand to Vietnam to well just all over, Sweden Finland and Norway? I love it that I can learn about new cultures and customs and also find we have a lot in common too as we form real friendships. Also I get to know people from different states here in my own United State. I love it and it is free too.

I simply love this place!

Hi All, indeed Mylot is a great place to get to know many friends from around the world. I had many penfriends when i was still studying. Back then, i had a few classmates who had penfriends from certain countries. For example, when i have penfriends from Singapore and Indonesia, i would introduce my penfriends to my classmate, who had penfriends from Europe. So, we would exchange the penfriends among us. If not mistaken, i ever had nearly fifty penfriends from around the world at that time. Over time, i only had two penfriends who still communicating with me.

Pity to hear your situation, All. In fact at first, my parents don't really like my ideas to have penfriends. They said it is a waste of time and money. But, in school we have Geography lesson, which need us to deepen our knowledge about different places in the world. My classmates got a lot of their Geography knowledge through their penfriends. I took the chance and explain it to my parents, so they allowed me to have penfriends, provided i must concentrate with my studies. And must get good result in all my exams. I kept my promise and able to managed well my time between communication with my penfriends and my studies. Only during exam time, all my penfriends unable to get any news from me. Gone missing in action with my exams...

That was a brilliant idea indeed justifying why you needed your penfriends Talking about geography I remember, we were studying about New Zealand and their prairies where infinite number of sheep would be found grazing. This image got stuck in my mind and now in the year 2005 I got the opportunity to travel there and I saw with my own eyes what I had studied when I was a kid. I saw those prairies alongside of the roads running into miles and miles with countless sheep looking like cotton balls grazing. My mind took me back to that book where this information was then available!

Thanks a ton for sharing this discussion. Well yes u are absolutely right, those days making pen friends was a part of every one's life which we call socializing in today's world. But it is due to the science and technology that such the craze for such tradition took a backseat. I am glad to know that u enjoyed making penfriends before and i hope u will get many good friends like this in the future. Mylot is a very good platform and i hope u are making good use of it What say?

There are many blessing involved in the internet, and there are extra special gifts that MyLot gives us. It lets us join a community of people who want to learn about the world and about one another. I also find it handy that I do not misplace my computer like I do paper notes that I intend to write. I have your messages and you have mine and we can respond at our leisure, yet still have it transmitted in the twinkling of an eye.

That is one of the things that I most love about myLot! I love having friends from everywhere and learning about the places they are. I think it is amazing what has come to light for me here. Before cellphones and Internet, I had a lot of penpals from different countries. I was not able to communicate with them often because mails have fees and my allowance (or what is left of them) can only provide responses once in every 2 months. Come to think of it, since the advent of cellphones and Internet, I never got the chance to talk to them anymore. I was not able to keep the letters. I think I threw them away when my family moved to a new house. I could only wish that I can communicate to them again and wish them all well.

Well, there is that "earning" factor. But more than that, we would not be this active and "into" it, I mean taking the time to post quality discussions and responses, and counter-comments, if we did not feel at ease interacting with one another here. At least, that's how I feel.

Hi, (hugs) I love mylot only for this reason. When i was new, it always excites me as how i can able to communicate with different people of the world. Yes, i very recently watched few videos on you tube and when i checked the comments, those comments were of people not from india, and i had watched bollywood movie, but the emotions, feel was in completely sync, though not added any comment, but felt exactly same they way commented. We can speak any language, be in any part of world and born and bought up in different ways, still emotions speak same language, how interesting.
