Why are you able to report yourself?

December 5, 2012 3:19pm CST
I was looking at a post I had made, then I noticed the exclamation mark for reporting. Now why in the world would you want to report yourself? It's like their thinking you'll be like. "Oh I said something really bad there I might as well turn myself in, no hiding from it." Very amusing really. Can anyone give me a good reason why you can report yourself XD?

Ahahah thats a funny way to put it, I can understand the use of such a button as Giftsandbags pointed out; In my opinion they could have called it something else though to make it less confusing.

From the FAQs: "How do I delete my own posts? If you made an error in posting and need your post deleted, use the report abuse system to notify us." http://www.mylot.com/o/faq/faq16.aspx

the answer is very simple to report the extra copies we get when we make a response or comment and some mylot glitch makes two or three instead of one.As we are not suppose to post duplicates just hit the exclamation report button and tell the admins about the glitch and how you want them to delete all but one of them. thats when you report on yourself. and its not amusing either it is just irritating.

I reported myself once. Don't remember what it was for. I don't think it was for duplicate posts. Might've been for being a bad boy. Wait I think I remember. I posted something that after posting it I realized it was a gross violation of the rules and I wanted to reword the topic to make it acceptable. The deleted it and then I was able to do what I meant to from the start.

Some things slip our attention the first time around and when we look at it again we're like. "Wait a second...I didn't write that did I...?" Happy mylotting. =D

Well, I guess you got your answer. More than once. It's a common thought I suppose if you don't really think about it at first. I like the way you put it, though. So, since you don't need another answer on that, I'll just say welcome to mylot! I hope you enjoy your time here. It'll be easier if you read the FAQs and guidelines (if you haven't already). Happy mylotting!!

Hmm i only report about myself because i accidentally post twice. Right now i'm tired to always report it. Sometime i dont want to report it because someone comment in my responses. They comment both my responses. I dont want to make them disappointed when they see their comment also deleted because of responses being deleted.

That's a really good thought, Aka. I never thought about it like that before. I see you're using your brain. And it sounds like almost everybody else is, too.

I have actually done this a couple of times when I accidentally posted a response twice due to bad internet connection.
