The end of the year

There always seems to be many things left to get done before the end of the year. It's not just the Holidays and celebrations, but all the tax considerations and for us the Doctor's appointments that will be co-pay free if we get them in this year. Then the weather comes along and adds an extra challenge. Each year I tell myself that I am going to get ahead but somehow the next year always works it's way into the same hurry, hurry rush. So for all of you who also face this, I wish you calm, safety and love through these last few days of the year.

We were not, although I need to go in with him and do them at the same time as we need to divide up some expenses such as mortgage interest. I redid my withholding when I started the new job, hopefully I got the math right.

You and your Ex should be able to file joint for 2012, if you were married at any time during that year. But for next year change your witholding and remember child support is taxable to the person receiving it and a write off for the one paying. Of course we have yet to see what the laws will be for next year. As for dependents you'll have to agree on that also.

You are absolutely right. Really at the beginning of the year we do decide to do many things but at the end we realize that many things left to get done so again we decide to start from zero in the new year. But at least this time i am very happy to receive new year as i am going to stay with my son from the next year who was away from us for last seven years due to his education and job. The new city, new atmosphere and so many relatives over there. So i am eagerly waiting to shift and welcome new year this time.Anyway happy new year to you all like me.

The days that I hate are between Christmas and New Year, when Christmas is over you feel deflated, it's such an anticlimax, all the build up, preparations and work that goes into Christmas and it's only really for two days, then you just want to get into the New Year so you can take the Christmas tree down and start again. January is a bad time for most people, plus the weather. One thing I don't do now is make up any New Years Resolutions for January 1st. The way I see it if you want to make a change in your life, why wait till January 1st, why not start today?

I also feel the year ends with Christmas. New Years is not much for us, just back to work the following day.

I always end up rushing around at the end of the year too. I always say I'm starting shopping in July a little at a time but I never do. I am the crazy person still out on Christmas Eve..lol. Things will settle down again in January but your right, tax time is hectic too.

Thankfully I was worried because my family was here for the Thanksgiving holidays so that delayed me with Christmas Shopping but luckily I got it done and post of the wrapping done too. I will definitely keep calm as this year comes to and end. There is nothing worse then running around at the last minute dealing with Christmas shopping. I wish you also the same, calmness, safety, love and happiness for the remainder of this year. God Bless! I just had a thought, you know how people are talking that December 21 the world is suppose to come to and end? Imagine we were doing all this shopping and getting ready for the holidays for nothing!

I don't see much difference between the day I end and the day the world ends. After all any of us can go anytime and if we all go at once, what will happen? Will there be lines to get into heaven or hell? Have a great Holiday, no matter where you are. Blessings

There is always something to get done by the end of the year. I know after the end of the year, when the new year starts we all make resolutions and plan on getting ahead on things. For some reason it never works out. But I guess we do put forth the effort.

it seems that this year has gone by exceptionally fast and i still have so much to before the end of it. at least i get the week off between Christmas and New Years and my hubby took the time off too so that will be nice. since our eldest will be home from college, i am hoping we can have some family time together.

I'm hoping I'd end a lot of my problems with this year as well but apparently I can't see that happening. I'm not one to easily give up though, and with your wishes and my hopes still all up, I'm going to make things work for me. Anyway, I wish you all the best as well for this year and the years to come.

Hi savypat, Our tax returns are probably done a little different here in Canada, as it not something that we have to worry about early in the year. It is true however that a lot of us plan to make some changes in the new year, but we rarely do. Blessings.

The end of the year is kind of inspiring for me because it is when I make my new year's resolutions and think of all the great things I will do next year. Which usually never happen, so I guess towards the end of the year I get lazy and put off things I could work on right now because I feel like that after new year's I will be more motivated to do it. If that makes any sense...

Thanks a ton for sharing this discussion. Yes u are absolutely right, the year is nearing its end and there are certain things that we could not accomplish this year. i think this is common with most of the people out here. There are some unfinished tasks and dreams and i think it is out responsibility to fulfill them in the nest year and there is no point in getting disappointed for the same. We should be satisfied with whatever we have done so far this year. What say?

Thanks so much. I have learned to keep the holidays simple. I don't over decorate my house and I don't bake too many cookies or goodies. I don't really need to be eating that many goodies anyways. I also wish that everyone is safe and health. Peace and Joy to All.
