Just now from the TV I learned that you shouldn't chew the gums over 15 inutes. Otherwise it is not good for your fixed decay teeth. And it is possible to lead to the stomache and so on. Now I don't chew gums at all since I think it is not that good for the health. I prefer to brush my teeth.

I chew gum and I brush my teeth. If we listened to and followed everything we hear that might be the least big negative we were never do anything. They have even said that we can poison our systems with too much water. I think that rule should be everything in moderation.

But I think chewing the gums for 15 minutes is already enough. After all, it doesn't have any taste and why keep chewing it?

I keep on chewing it because I usually forget I even have it in my mouth. After the flavor is gone and all the sugar chewed out of how can be of any damage to teeth anyway?

I don't really like to chew gum so this won't be much of a problem for me but if you fear that it might cause tooth decay then you should choose gums that are sugarless which is available. This sugarless gums would clean your teeth and not leave sweet residue on your teeth and therefore no fear of tooth decay.

This is a very long time. Yes, it is better to chew the gums in a short time.

I didn't know that length of time could do that. A bartender I met recently told me that her jaw muscles were 'broken' on account of she chews gum too hard! Maybe cutting her gum-time down to 15 minutes could've taken care of that!

For some reason I find that if I am chewing gum for too long I start to reach as though I am going to be sick, can't fathom out why but it has put me off chewing gum, I used to chew gum because they say it helps produce saliva which can kill off bacteria in your teeth.

We should certainly brush our teeth regularly that's for sure! I do not chew a lot of gum except when I am running. It helps my mouth not be so dry while I have it open and breathing (or panting! lol ) Other than that I don't use gum much. I have used it late at night to help me stay awake when I am working on a big project though!

Hmm.. Never heard about it before than this.. Thanks for the info. Personally I don't chew the gums more than five minutes, and that also rarely. I just chew them till they have taste after they became tasteless I just throw them away. But never heard about that they can be bad for health if we chew them for long. Is it applied for all kind of gums?

My grandfather was a dentist for over 3o years here in mexico. he used to tell us all the time not to chew gum at all. it was really bad for ones teeth. he said it caused many teeth to go bad, and even go crooked. Ive never been much of a gum chewer after hearing that from him. Take care there. merry xmas.....
