Philosophy is one of my choices as a course before entering college. I am somehow inspired to take this course for I wanted to follow the footsteps of my idol, Senator Miriem Defensor-Santiago who is a product of this course. I really admire the way she renders her opinion on things. I also am amazed of how he stand her grip on her principles and that being guided by her philosophy in life. I really love her. But somehow, I ended up taking Political science as my course. My parents wanted me to be a Lawyer someday. But still, I have no regrets with it. I think I am destined to take that after all. Maybe, when the time comes, I will let my daughter take Philosophy then, so that she'll continue my dreams. lol. Honestly, I am happy now with my course. Sooner I'll graduate and with that I'll be a good lawyer someday, hopefully and I will definitely make my own Philosophy that will surely rock the world :)

I think your parent's choice of course for you is excellent. If you really love Philosophy then being a lawyer is just a means to exercise your love for it. You can still study philosophy even if you've already become a lawyer. It is your stepping stone for success.

Well, just to remind you don't force your daughter to take Philosophy when she reaches college. Let her take whatever it is she wants or history will repeat itself. Just like what happened to you.

"Philosophy" (in school) isn't much more than 'remembering who said what important things.' But political science---that's the path to the keys of power! And when you have the keys of power, you can write the World's Philosophy any way you want to!

Thanks a ton for sharing this discussion. Well that is your greatness that u took up Political science knowing the fact that philosophy was the one u wanted to foray and do not want to disappoint your parents. I know u must be feeling bad at heart but u should remember the fact that if u have sacrificed something in life then u will get many happiness in life which will come unheard. I am sure u will become a successful lawyer and will still have good ethos and principles in your life. What say?
