Finding something floating in the Orange juice

I had opened the container of orange juice, and see something float by in the container. I put it back in the fridge for someone else to look at. Turns out it was a lid from another container, but you never know. My Dad while I was at work emailed the company to complain. So I believe he is getting a few free coupons. I have had bugs float iin my food, once I had fish that had a piece of metal in it.

Since we buy mostly fresh and local, there have not been all that many issues with our food. We did get a bag of a certain brand of potato chip that had a small puncture in it--something which I did not realize until I'd eaten a significant portion of the chips. To say that I am now forever of that brand would be accurate. What the potato chip incident reminded me of was that I need to keep things fresh and local. I can either get local chips, or I can bake up my own. The more things are handled and the farther things are shipped, the more chances there are for things to go wrong. Our food system is simply too big, and we need to return to a people-sized system--fresh, local. We need to know where our food comes from.

You are exactly right, most of our food is shipped in from the US. I find the more it's handed the more contaminated it is. Sadly, there is mucb local during the winter. I have been thinking of doing my own orange juice but the oranges are brought in from the US, and cost way way too much. Was it just a hoel in the bag of chips? They would just be stale.

It appeared punctured from the outside. My threshold for such things is pretty low. While I will happily nibble on bizarrely-shaped carrots or eat an "ugly" tomato, prepackaged food shipped in from elsewhere that possesses defects makes me question the safety of the product. I would suggest using LocalHarvest to locate local food, but that is a U.S.-only thing unfortunately. I don't know what, if any, Canadian equivalent there might be floating around out there. I do know, though, that I have yet to find a European equivalent, which I really need to find before we move--if we do move.

yuck! i once found a bug in a cup of soup package and called the company and they sent me a coupon for a free box of cup a soup. i have to say that it was pretty gross but the company was quite good about it. they said it doesn't happen very often because of their quality control but i guess no company's quality control is perfect either.

I had some canned chilli in which I found a woody bit. I taped it to the label and sent it to the company asking what it was and what was it doing in my chilli. They wrote back saying it was just a piece of dried onion top, but they did give me some coupons for free cans.

Odd, but when you pick it out, or if it's hard and your chomping on it. I can;t remember what it was some hamburgers or something. My Dad was chewing on it, and pulled out a piece of metal.

Usually when something like that happens it makes me not want to buy that product from the company again so if they offer me coupons for free food I usually just tell them not to bother because I wont be buying it again. That is scary that you ate fish with a piece of metal in it. I can see how that can happen if the fish swallowed it but you would think they would have to xray it or something to make sure things like that didnt happen. That could have done a lot of damage to your body and you could have sued them. They need to be extra cautious.

Depending on the product, I wont buy it. I bought hamburgers in teh summer they said mild, my Dad said they were way too spicey for him so they went in the garbage. But when I find something in it, then I normally go to a different company or trade with someone. Once I got Cashmere toilet paper they said unscented and you could smell the perfume off it. I broke out in rashes, and I complained they sent me a full price coupon (limited the amount it was something lik $10.00 and the cheapiest product is 14.99). I gave it to my Dad and asked if he could buy be Royalle.

If I have a complaint I call the company instead of emailing them. Once I bought a pizza and when I opened it one of the plastic coverings was opened. So I called and they apologized and sent me out a free coupon for another one.

Normally if you call it's long distance, they question you worth anything, and they screw something up. I email them so it's in writing and I have proof.

It is a pity that you found that! It`s so gross! The shock is worse than the free coupons the`ll send you. And besides, you have to write a complaint and bother about it instead of ahving something nice to drink.

Very true, I stuck the orange juice container in the fridge with a note saying there is something floating in it. Luckily it's just the top piece of the container (the lid piece), but imagine if it was something like a bug, metal or so on.

Really? which products are these that you were able to see fish in a container? I think that is quite impossible, really as these really go through some good factories we see in the national geographic. haha.. :D Usually when we have bad product outcome from what we bought, its just well, thrown away and we weren't usually used to complaining to the company as they are not as "reachable" for complaints, like this afternoon we b'ought a taco shells box and its no longer crispy!!! so we had no choice and we never have thought of complaining. =( IT is different for orders in restaurants, of course if there were hairs and unusual things seen in the meal if there mustn't be any, of course we would complain those... :D

This is one of the things that really does bother me the most and I have been known to call or write to the companies when I've had something like this happen. Typically they will end up sending a refund (or replacement coupon) for the defective product and they will also send some additional coupons for a significant amount off of future purchases as well. Companies certainly will do anything that they can in order to be able to keep their customers.

Hi!! I have been lucky enough as I have not encountered kind of problems but its just once that when I had an ice cream there was a piece of hair in it.I had just received the ice cream from the counter and spotted the hair and gave it back to the store boy and he exchanged it for a new one and was give and upgrade with it.

How is it illegal? It could be life threatening if your an idiot and go consuming it. We don;t have *local food inspectors*. Each should have standards and yes things do happen which is why I review my foods before consuming them.

Mistakes happens and nevertheless you have got free coupons for it so it turns out a good deal for you. Such an incident didn't happened to me but has happened to my friend. Well he just didn't cared and didn't gave it time. May be If he would have complaint, he too would have got some free coupons.
