I always have this resolution to finally SAVE but until now, I have yet to see myself saving even just a little. Times are hard these days and there isn't enough money circulating nowadays. People have little money to spend and buy, so there's hardly enough money for everyone to save. I hope it's going to be different in 2013. I still hope and resolve to finally start saving in 2013 and I hope to tag Mylot along with this effort because I hope to work harder so I can use my earning here my savings. That is, if I reach payout every month. Do you also want to have this resolution as well? Happy New Year, everyone!

From a child I was taught to save, and I have done throughout my life, so saving for me comes easily, whilst I am not rich, I do have enough to be comfortable, I don't currently work because of the economic crisis, when I was younger I put a lot by for times like these, thankfully.

I have my mother to thank for installing in me the discipline of saving.

I am a saver. I save money regularly for things like taxes and insurance premiums, but this year, things stretched a little thin. I am going to work harder at saving money in 2013 because I have to, to have enough to meet expenses. I'm hoping to be here on myLot more, too, as part of the plan.

I can think of two things that might help. First, look over your situation carefully and decide how much you can save each month, then pay that first, before you pay bills and before you buy anything for the month. Consider it the most important thing you have to pay for. The second one is kind of like it: Get serious about saving. Make it a priority. Daydream about your savings growing and spend some time finding ways to make it grow faster. You have to work at it; that's the only way.

If you can store away just $10 every month, you'll have at least some money for the future. It doesn't sound like much at all, and if you can do more, then do it. It does add up and it sure will make you happy when something breaks down, or someone's birthday comes up, etc. Also, if you can throw your change into a jar, that adds up too. I'm going to try hard to do one or the other next year so I have some fun money.

Ok, didn't know what country you were from as you didn't mention it, and I normallly don't look. Ok, save your coins then...they still add up.

$10 a month is a little too much, maybe change or coins in a jar would be more reachable. Remember, we don't earn dollars in our country Kash.

hi there cutie18f. saving for me isn't just a once a year deal. i continuously do things to either save more money or earn more money or both! anyway, if you are saving for the first time, i suggest that you start with a budget. list down all your sources of income and how much you are earning. then list down all your expenses. are you earning more than your spending? good for you then. you can then set aside that amount and save it in a separate bank account. for further savings, you can either get a second job (your online earnings count) or you can look at your expenses and identify your needs and wants. once you have a list of needs and wants, you can readily scrimp on your wants and the money you save, you can then add up to your savings. are you spending more than your earning? then you should really start saving now. start by going through your expenses and taking out the unnecessary ones. you can cut down on eating out or taking out the expensive coffee every day. you can also slow down on updating your clothes or even updating your gadgets and cellphones. create a budget plan as well. you can immediately set aside 60% of your salary for your expenses and 40% for your savings. try to see if you can automate your savings. talk to your bank about it. every payday, they will automatically withdraw a part of your salary and deposit it in a different savings account under your name. there are other things that you can do to save. read financial blogs and articles. remember that even small savings go a long way. hope these tips help. cheers and happy mylotting!!!

I wish I can save budget too as I've spend too much this Christmas because of the gifts and other neccessities. Aside from that I forced myself to spend more because of the up coming wedding of my friend since there are still things that I need to buy for the preparation.

I would really want to save. I mostly spend on gadgets. My husband and I are both suckers for that. This year alone, I spent most of my money on electronic gadgets. I'm hoping to save up by 2013 and this time I hope that I'll be able to save up for real!

Gadgets come and go and if you don't stop, you will never be able to save because these manufacturers will always come up with something to make us spend our money on them. It is time to get wiser.

Happy new year to you too. Everybody have this resulation but most of us not able to do so. saving is very difficult because when we have money in pocket and saw something in market then its hard to stop yourself to buy that..best way of saving is piggi bank and dont carry extra money and credit card in market. what do you think?
@Cutie18f (9551)

I had a same problem with me but from 2012 i have promised myself that i"ll put some fixed money each month before spending in anything when mysalary come. I followed it whole year and i am glad today. You"ll just need a strong will to do that because as you said money is hard to come these days so you have to be strong to cope with more pressure situations in the future...Good luck to you

Ha ha ha... Money has been an issue till the beginning of time. Well may you reach payout each month and be happy. My new year's resolution is just to work and myself financially free. Well it would require me to work a lot harder but then i have to do it. Kinda no other choice. A very happy new year to you too!

That is right. It is new year and it is really time to save. Times are really hard these days. Actually, I save my online earnings for the future expenses. Yet, I still have to work hard online and have to research more on online money sites. I hope I have time too as I work in the afternoon. Happy New Year!
