If you are extremely wealthy, stay in the best neighborhood, has great children, love your husband/wife, enjoy your hobbies, travels a lot,is healthy - will that define 'happiness'? What must go wrong for you to become then unhappy?

Do you think it is possibleforsomeone to obtain such in a lifetime. Most people thought who possessed such are lucky, that is as far as the outer thing shown but if someone will go deeper to know this lucky person, there could be something. Different or odd that was remain hidden and in secret

Having riches do make people happier most of the time...sometimes. Look at the faces of poor people who have nothing? Love flee out the door where there are poverty...

I think when people become discontent with what they have is when they become unhappy. The scenarios you mentioned are great for being happy. But when we feel that we need more or a different of this or that then we become unhappy with our lot in life. I'm sure that most people feel that if they had all the things listed above they can be happy. As long as we learn to be content. There will always be someone who has more of this or that, or a spouse who we assume loves their partner more than we think our's love us,etc. When we find happiness in our own life and look for ways to make our life better or improve ourselves we work at being content.

Having 'stuff' does not mean happiness? I know people who can do so much with the money they have. They can go places together, or separately, buy the things they need, provide for their children, invite people to enjoy their wealth and share their food with them.

Actually, I really don't think that money is something that is able to buy happiness. I really don't think that a person has be extremely wealthy and live in the best neighborhoods in order to be happy with their life. Instead, I think that the real keys to happiness are that you should have a lot of positive relationships in your life and you also have to be able to make the best out of what you are given in your life. This is the way to define happiness.

Yes, relationships forms a huge part of the happiness we experience. When relationships are good then it can leave us with the feeling of happiness, and no money can buy that!

Hi Dee. I think happiness is what we all make of our lives. I mean if we focus on the bad stuff life can be unhappy. But if we focus on what is good in life we will be happier with our lives. I am by no means rich I don't have this and that I want or need but I think my husband and I have a very happy life. We have a roof over our heads we have food (not all of what we like but still food) in the pantry. We have loving dogs that don't mind all the time but they are pretty good. We don't always have what we want but most of the time we have what we need. And we always give God the credit for all HIS Blessings each and everyday. Making what you have happiness

This is great! It is how we look at life and how we CHOOSE to experience it. You are so right. Happiness also comes when we give god credit for His daily blessings. I agree with you!

Well, it depends on a person if that makes them happy. People become unhappy because they are not contented and satisfied of what they have. Happiness for me is contentment and satisfaction and so, if a person is happy with a money and he knows that makes him happy then, he choose his own happiness even though some people would say money would not make him happy. His happiness that makes him satisfy and contented is money and that is his definition of happiness just for him.

I know people who really has a lot of money, and they are happy, but I know they will be more happier if their relationships with families and friends were on a better place right now.

I agree with Dominique and Carmona. It's a combination of both. Being content with what you have, as you mentioned, there will always be people who have more, but you shouldn't compare yourself to them, instead be grateful for what you do have and remember there are people less fortunate than you. I teach my kids that when it comes to education always look at those better than you and try to be like them, but when it comes to wealth, always remember those less fortunate than you and make sure you share what God has given you.

Thank you for your comment rkhoury. It's just sometimes frustrating when you look at all the pain and poverty around you and wonder how a person can 'fix' things for them so that they could be happy.

What a loaded question! I'm not sure.. I think it's to each's own. You want to fulfill your dreams. You want to do things you enjoy. You want to be with the ones you truly love. You could be rich and have a family and be completely unhappy, I would imagine. I think "happy" is different for everyone.

Perhaps happiness is having enough of EVERYTHING! People say that one cannot buy happiness, but let me tell you I have seen how happy a person can be for a very long time when they are financially on a good place. Just take time and look again at the faces of all the poor people....
