They are looking at furniture

My Grandma gave my parents $300.00 for Christmas like every other years. She wants the money to go to something for the house. Now if you walked into our house, you would see how outdated it is. The furniture is from when they moved into this house 30 odd years ago. I wish I could find my camera cord to take a picture of it. It;s the most ugly furniture you will find, it's completely wore down. I don't sit on it because the spring stick into you, it's lumpy. Oh and it's ugly brown like poop brown (which was in style then). None of the furniture matches, or remotely goes with anything. Since my Dad hasn't been in work he has been trying to redo a room a season. He did the bathroom upstairs and downstairs a few years ago. He has been talking of redoing the kitchen, which mind you is an ugly green, and my mother isn't the cleanest cook, so beside the wall where the stove is, it's permanent stains (I think from the heat), they haven't redone the kitchen since before I was born. So they are off to look at furntiture, which is a big step. Since they don;t go anywhere, they wont go shopping period or complain the entire time. I am waiting for them to come home with a couch and chair in the truck. They looked up price ranges and most for for $399 - $499 what they were looking for. They want real leather but their dogs are very misobedient and will get up and try and dig their couch.

They can always get hand me down furniture, clean it with a shampooer or even buy a couch cover. I know that some people are iffy on hand me down furniture. For me I'd rather buy cheap and know who the person is that I'm buying from. Though back when I was living with friends we had a chair that was once a friend of ours, it went through several people before we got it. Hopefully they'll come back with something. It's not worth spending too much on if their animals will just mess it up.

That sounds like a plan, $180.00 is not bad for a table, I know I would not pay $1000 unless it was something that could not get scratched or look tarnished.

They didn't come back with any, as none were comfy. My Grandma's neighbour had a bunch, and my Mother left it for 3 months before saying I'll come get it, and he had taken it to the dump. When I move out, I am saving up to buy most of my furniture at Walmart. I found a nice dinning table for $188.00, whereas my parents paid $1,000 for their table.

Your parents might be able to find some really nice furniture at Habitat for Humanity Restore. They have some great furniture there. I found a cute little love seat for $28. I didn't buy it, but it is very cute. It has flowers on it and comes with a couple of decorative pillows. The Habitat also has other items in there too. They have sinks, light fixtures, dressers, beds, paneling, carpeting, anything you would want to redecorate a house. Once the kids and I move out of my Mom's house, this is where I will be getting our furniture. Well, either at Habitat or a thrift store.

Well that's nice your grandma gave them 300 dollars for christmas. I got 450 dollars for christmas this year and gifts. I love shopping for new things for the house and my bedroom, I hope they come home with some nice looking furniture that will actually match your house. I wish I had money to go shopping for new stuff but I used my christmas money to pay off my doctor bill and get my medicines I needed stuff like that, so it was used wisely. Enjoy your new furniture if they end up picking any up.

That is great that your parents have decided that they want to get some new furniture for the house and I hope that they are able to find something that they really like. Now as far as leather goes, I actually like it better than cloth when you have pets because is can be very easy to clean (depending on the finish of the leather). However, they would have to train their dogs to not dig the furniture before I would personally bring some new, expensive furniture into the house.

They didn't get any new furniture as it wasn;t comfy enough. I am hoping to get the job, and save up the money I need.

Actually picking up the furniture is a very touch work, you need to compare the style, the price, the quality, and so on. This year i also chose some furniture, it was horrible experience for me, but finally when i look at the furniture in the new house, i am so proud of myself. Have a nice day and hope they will find some great furniture.

As far as being outdated that wouldnt bother me because to me its about function over beauty so as long as it still worked I would still use it. But the fact that the cushions have springs poking out and they are lumpy I could not stand that in my house. I like things to be in really good shape. The sectional couch we bought it was very low priced at this one store compared to others. We paid $700 for it and other stores were charging about $1000 at that time for one.

It does sound like the kitchen would be a better room to redo right now. Or, maybe, just giving both the kitchen and living room a little lift... New cushions and a slipcover for the sofa, a splatter guard for the stove, fresh paint for both rooms and a fresh new rug for the living room would give everything a fresher look.

A elegant environment gives people a comfy feeling. If you could redo your house actively, there will be a great changes from the root. The trouble will not bother you any more. The clear situation can be kept for a period at least. To have a beautiful house,be diligent and positive, that's the key point.
