Well last night I received a gift (token) and it was a photo album. Do you give photo albums as gift? I know that this would be a nice gift for weddings or maybe birthdays, but for Christmas I don't think this would be appreciated. Personally, I have no use of photo albums now. I've had lots of photo albums in the past with photos in them, but they get lost or damaged in time. My friend who gave me the gift should have been more creative. A 2013 planner would have been more timely and appropriate. What do you think? Do you still give photo albums as gift? Or do you like receiving it as gift?

hi there cutie18f. i would definitely give a photo album as a gift but it would already contain pictures that i have shared with the person i'm giving it to. since nowadays, everything is in digital, i'd give a digital copy of the pictures as well. it's giving a photo album but with a nice twist to it to keep up with the updated times. anyway, back in the day, when a good friend of mine was going to the states and staying there for good, i gave her a photo album with all our previous photographs. that was maybe three to five years worth of pictures. good times in a photo album!!! of course back then, there was no digital copies yet so i didn't give her a cd with the saved pictures as file. anyway, got an email from my friend and she said, she has been either taking photos of the old pictures with her digital camera or she has been scanning these to have a more permanent keepsake of these pictures. cheers and happy mylotting!!!

If heartily given no problem at all. Sometimes, we should consider the situation of our friends. Maybe she was very busy and cannot think the appropriate gift she can give to you. If you don't like the gift you received. Just extend it to others maybe they would appreciate that stuff. Share you blessings to others.

It was gift-wrapped and I opened it at home. It was really a nice and attractive photo album but at the moment I really have no need of it. Yes, I am going to give it to someone else.

A photo album would be totally wasted on me as I don't take photos any longer, and the last time I did it was a digital camera so all the pictures went straight onto my computer. I think with all this new modern technology photo albums have become things of the past. I do have one photo album however that I cherish, it's of me from birth through the ages, my teens, twenties, thirties and that is where it stops, I have no photos of me in my late thirties/early forties. I keep most of my memories in my head to recall on. Personally I wouldn't contemplate giving someone a photo album unless they were really into photography.

You are so right, Wolfie. Photo albums are a thing of the past. This friend of mine needs to be more creative next time.

Hi Cutie! As for me I would appreciate whatever gift my friend would give me. What is important is that she remembered to give me during that special day. Happy new Year!

Hi Aries! I did appreciate the gesture though. It's the thought that really matters.

If I were you i would still be thankful for recieving a gift. Im not gonna complain to myself that its not useful. If I cant use it then I will keep it as a remembrance to the day when a friend bothers to give me a gift. We are so centered with the object and not the thoughts and the givers intention to make you happy.

I used to have this mentality Ambe, but this only made me a hoarder and my house full of junk, of things I don't need. So now I know better. I have to recycle things and give them to others.

I think it is a lousy gift. I won't give it as christmas gift. However, if I received that kind of gift I would still be thankful. In some sense, I can still use it. Have a nice day!

We have some photos albums but all are old. Now all are in digital forms and not spending time to get the print and keep the photos in albums. Earlier the photo albums considered as a great gift, not any more, as the trend changed. Now all are keeping the photos in computer, or in a pen drive. I think that is the safe way too. But at the same time I must accept the memory on watching those photo albums are really different. Still I like to watch the old photos in albums. Nice to know that you got a photo album, don’t know how it will help it. Anyway gifts are gifts and precious too.

In this world of digital pictures it is still nice to have them actually printed on paper. I like to cover photo albums with pretty fabric and decorate them in lace, ribbon, buttons or other things. Special occasions like Weddings and new babies make for new photo album themes. One year I did some up with Christmas fabric for my adult children. I filled the pages with old pictures of when they were young and pictures of loved ones passed on and pictures of family events we all enjoyed together. They said these albums were their favorite gifts. Memories are priceless. Future generations depend on us to keep these records.
