Did you ever give a gift that was better and more appreciated than you thought?

This grandma did very, very good. I went to Famous Footwear and bought two pairs of shoes for my grandson at the BOGO sale. I bought a size 6 to fit now and a size 7 for his birthday in July. Yesterday my son brought my grandson over for a visit he made a point of showing me little Darin was wearing his Christmas present. A few minutes later mentioned in passing he couldn't afford a pair of DC's for his son but grandmas can because they can afford it. I had no idea they were really cool shoes! And I'm not ever going to tell him how little the shoes and 12 pair of socks actually cost me! Have you ever ran into this situation? Personally I can't wait for his Birthday!

When I was a child, I wrote "I love you, mom" on a simple piece of school paper and left it on the kitchen table. My step mom burst into tears. It was not the reaction I expected because my step mom and I have never had a great relationship and she has never treated me as a daughter.

This grandmother is on a limited budget but my son told me that my 11 month old grandson has grown out of just about all his clothes. That's all I needed to hear so for Christmas I spent a lot more money than I could afford. I bought a lot of clothes at carters.com. They were having a huge sale just before Christmas so I'm not even sure how many outfits and pj's I bought him but my son and his wife were overwhelmed at all the things I bought. I bought some for his size now and some for when he's a couple of months older. They were really in shock and so appreciative. They made my Christmas!

I bet you can't....how fun that he loves the shoes! I gave my little granddaughter a coin purse...it was shaped like a cat and had a big mouth....now it was on clearance for 38 cents and it was intended to go into her stocking....but things didn't work out that way so I just gave it to her....well I went to go take care of her the next week and that is what she thanked me for....not the American doll bed or clothes....not the music box.....it was that coin purse she loved!
