Least Favorite Time of Year?

I really hate this time of year, you know? It's so many things, really, and I feel so terrible thru the months of Jan, Feb and March - EVERY year! First, I know, it's the let-down feeling that so many experience after the hectic holiday season... and there's so little to look forward to, at least to me. It's the freezing cold weather, the snow, ice, wind... and people generally get nastier in these weather conditions, so for me it becomes about society! It's the pre-tax time bustle, so we have to close out the company books, the files all need to be archived - without forgetting to keep tax docs readily available... Company files also start getting audited for the next year in Feb, so there's all that prep... then it's actually TAX time... which can either be a good thing or bad thing, depending... Oh, and lets not forget the holiday wieght gain and the lack of motivation and/or motivation to get to the gym! My only salvation is my son and keeping track of time passing thru his schedule of vacations, sports, and camps... Oh, I just can't wait until Spring! April is when I start to feel like I'm 'waking up' again, but May really brings my moods back to mostly pleasant!

I know a lot of people feel that way and for good reason, I suppose. I used to, but not so much any more. I've learned to take the down time and recuperate from the holidays. Tax time is kind of stressful, but I have time. I don't have to file until April and that helps. Have you thought about light therapy? Some people react to the shorter hours of daylight and need more sunlight to feel good.

I've heard to this, but never took the time to investigate... I just know I've always been like this... I can feel the lack of energy and motivation, it's so strong! I try not to let it get me TOO down as I still have to be a mom to my 7 YO, I still have to be a wife... DH doesn't get like this so he doesn't understand... he gets annoyed... so I have to try to overcome it every day! In the past, I've found buying flowers and putting them on the kitchen table helps... but I can't get the spring flowers yet, so I have have a few more weeks to try to get thru! Thanks for the response!

I think you can buy full spectrum light bulbs that you sit under for a little while each day. I don't know how much they cost, but it might be worth trying. Either way, hang in there! It won't be long until spring!

I don't like summer that much due to hot weather that gives me rashes. Or maybe because I live in a tropical country that even during rainy season the weather is still not too cold. I like when it rains- but these past years the rain caused a lot of calamities here in country- too much flooding due to deforestration (sad)

Oh, I can definitely see how constant hot weather and rain can be not such a good thing... Summer here does bring uncomfortable humidity, which can cause heat headaches and rashes...sometimes it's so hot it's hard to breath... but I'll still take the summer over the winter! Thanks for the response.

My biggest gripe with this time of the year is that work slows down for me and my husband, holiday gifts have to be bought, celebrations have to be paid for and birthday gifts for my daughter and son. So I know that I am going to be broke, probably until I get my tax refund. I hate how this time of year just digs into your pockets with no mercy.

Thanks for the response... well I do enjoy LOOKING at the pretty snowfalls, seeing the beautiful bright red cardinals in the trees and watching my son's face when he sees the snow falls... AS LONG AS I'M INDOORS! LOL I totally agree, I hibernate too... but it doesn't have to be cold... we just like to do it in the SUN! LOL

Either these winter months when not only it's really cold and I hate melted snow, too, and how my boots can get soaking wet, but I have to do all the errands before my university semester, and it's just too much of a hassle... But I hate really hot summer days, too... those days I sometimes almost faint...

Yes, I hate when my feet get wet and cold too... and it seems no matter how good a pair of boots are, no matter how careful you try to be, your feet ALWAYS get wet! ARG! Errands are even worse in the messy snow and slush - although it doesn't usually ruin that good feeling I get when I can call a day productive! I also hate humidity, but I'll still take that any day to bitter cold... we just hang out in the AC or lounge in the pool! At least your getting that warm sun on your face! Thanks for the response.

For me that would be spring, which I call the mud season, lol! I actually prefer winter over it. Sure, I welcome the waring weather after being all cold and sniffly the entire winter, but then it's like mud everywhere in spring. It ruins shoes, carpets, rugs and it seems like I will be forever cleaning and vacuuming my car for mud.

Good Morning, thanks for the response... yeah, I don't particularly like the mud either, but I will gladly vac every day, wash the cars every day just to have warmth and sunlite again! You're right, it does tend to ruin shoes, but who doesn't like buying a new pair of shoes... just when the world starts to rebloom again??!!

I would have to say that this is my least favorite time of year as well. Because of the winter here in Northern Michigan I would go as far to say that I even hate this time of year. I've lived in northern Michigan for twenty one years now and I am just completely sick of dealing with winter and all the hassle that is included with it. I also don't like this time of year because business slows down big time at both of my jobs and I can't get as many hours as I desire. It really makes things tough when more than half of the year you don't really have a reliable income or a usual amount that you are making each paycheck.

I hate this time of year, as it is just to cold, and can't et out much because of it. I hate being cooped up in the winter, but hey, I really can't do anything about it. I will just have to take the bitter with the sweet and move on. I seem to get more depressed this time of year too, and I think it all stems from the cold and being cooped up. I will be glad when spring gets here, as then I know it will be wrmer, and I can get out more. Also, I hae tax time, with a passion.l I would just like to go to sleep and not wake up until the next day, after it is all over. Take care, and have a good day.

One of the best things about this time of year that I can live with is Football, Nachos and Chili and spending the weekend with DH and darling son! Thanks for the response and I hope you have a good weekend! HMMM...I thought it was mostly tropical there...bad weather there consist of rains?

It's really hard to thinks of times of paying the taxes and how to survived on that nasty freezing weather. Just think of the excitement waiting on the schedule of vacations, sports and camps of your son. for this is, the way of life. Just make fun of whatever you have to keep you moving and be happy.

Oh yes, now I count down using my sons schedule! In four weeks, he has Feb vacation, then we just have to get thru March, then he has April vacation... it's then that I start to 'wake up' again! I try to keep busy with PTA too and that's very active... today is very bitter and cold, windy but sunny... But it's the NFL Championship Game Day too, so at least today I won't be focused on having the winter blues! Thanks for the response.
