I just retired from my job as a substitute teacher. I'm happy that I can go to bed when I want to, get up when I want, do whatever I want to do each day. That's great, but I miss the people I used to work with.. We do meet for lunch several times a year, but it is not the same when you seem them at work, involved in the same things. I'm thinking of doing volunteer work.

It is still over a year before I am due for retirement, but I am already eagerly looking forward to it. The option of choosing your sleep time as opposed to fitting it around employment is possible the greatest attraction for me. I also look forward to the free time which will allow me to do as I please without the usual restrictions.
It is quite natural to miss the work colleagues because the amount of time we spend at work causes it to become a part of our social life. The same scenario applies when we change jobs, although it is not too long before other people replace the ones we left behind.

Retirement is a total readjustment of our lives! I think we don't realize what a change it is. It's like getting married or moving to another state - a total change of lifestyle.
Volunteering is good if you don't have enough to keep you busy and you'll meet new friends, too. I've found the internet keeps me busy enough, along with my family and friends I see otherwise.

Hi happielady!
There is really nothing better than having a time to do the things that we love. You can go to a church or any non government institution for that.
Have a nice day!
