What kind of bonus do you get from your workplace at the end of a year?

Last night, my department senior manager invited his office clerks to dinner. This is a tradition for our company that each managers. Except this dinner, we get nothing bonus at the end of a year: no raises, no presents, no double salary... I know some company have rather good year-end bonus which envied me. What kind of bonus do you get at the end of a year?

while i was in the philippines, it is mandatory by law that employers give an extra amount equivalent to a month of salary to each employee. this is on top of cash bonus. well, celebrating Christmas is getting more expensive than ever. shopping for gifts becomes a bit easier because of extra money in my hand.

Hi mensab! This is true but the amount may vary depending on the savings of each company or agency. Are you working in public office?

We don't celebrate Christmas, in China, we celebrate Lunar year, and it cost lots of money too, married couples need to give red packets to unmarried people, elders need to give red packets to youngsters. And we need to visit relatives and friends with presents, and invite each other for dinner... And we don't have extra salary just like you, so you are still lucky!

I just received a surprise bonus this week. It's a surprise as I did not expect to get any knowing the company was not doing too well last year. It's not a double salary or not even a full salary; still, it was a nice and thoughtful gesture from my boss.

OH, NO! A gesture? Just a gesture? I don't think a nice gesture is enough for a bonus... At least a little present is fine. After a year working so hard, we deserve something good, right?

I meant what he did was a nice thing because I did have a real bonus, something extra on top of my usual salary...

I get a hundred dollars "turkey money" just before Thanksgiving, which, all things considered, is kind of cheap, but I'll take it. Do you get to order your own meal? If so, order something big and take part of it home! You'd at least get two free meals that way.

No way, all this foods were decided by my boss, we don't have the right to choose, and I didn't take the rest of food that we didn't finish to home, coz seldom people did this when they have dinner with lots of co-workers.

I have just been regularized in our company. I worked for a contract on a project basis for about a year and i get no benefits at all just renewal of contract and about 10% tax. :D When the company had an opening, i was endorsed to be a regular employee and so far, the bonus they gave us are 13th month pay (mandated by the government) and of course the productivity pay or our performance bonus. The performance bonus was equal amongst all of us and I guess I am happy with it already, of course.

Your bonus seems great! I wish I will have bonus just like you got.

I am working with a toy fty, it is own by a HK boss,so it is not government department. I think your government rule is good, it take employees' need into consideration. Coz depend on my little salary, it is hard to get through our lunar new year...

I don't work outside my home, so I don't get any bonus,at the end of the year, when I did work it was base on, the amount of sells the store made, for use to get a bonus every year, and that was hard to do.

So you are your own boss? You have your own business? Good for you! I wish I can be my own boss when I am 30. Business benifit is better than bonus, for me.
