I firmly believe in herbal supplements and vitamins and holistic medicine as well. I don't get the flu or colds and haven't been sick in about 6-7 years. I'm 65 and healthy with no problems. I find it quite disheartening when I read of people my age or older that take many medications and have a lot of things wrong with them. I started taking supplements for arthritis and I haven't had any joint pain in about 4 years. The problem is when people don't do the research and take cheap supplements that don't work. Then they blame it on natural remedies not working. Studies have been done to prove that some companies are less than ethical in their production of vitamins and supplements. Herbal remedies can be and are very effective in many cases. And there are ways to quickly rid yourself of a cold and the flu. My belief is that instead of trying something that works most people would rather be sick and have something to talk about or spend a lot of money on medicines that either don't work or maybe help but don't actually cure the problem.

there are really a lot of fake or substandard supplements. especially the chinese ones. please no offense meant. people who really want to use supplements better advise from a doctor just to be sure.

No offense taken. I buy only high quality, American made vitamins and supplements. I also have a holistic MD if I ever feel the need for a doctor. Thanks for commenting!

You got that right deazil because you only get what you pay for. It's best to buy good quality supplements, and your average bottle of the good stuff will cost you at least $30.00 dollars. They really do work.

i've bought some, but i always forget to take them. even with over the counter generic vitamins and minerals, i flunk. i think the way to know if anything worked or not is to follow the directions religiously. and that applies to exercise and diet plans, too.

you can just post a note on your fridge. it's the most common way not to forget drinking your vitamins.

Yes, there are some out there that can help with certain things. I drink a shake that can help people loose weight, some use it to gain muscle and it has helped a lot of people regulate their blood sugars and have more energy. Since I started using it, I have less problems with my Fibromyalga, so yes, it is true and something I believe in that certain products out there can help with certain things.

I assume the word "herbal" comes from herbs. Herbs are used from the very first start there are human beings, also animals use it to stay healthy. Herbs are even used in regular medication. I do believe herbs can help, but I don't believe all kinds will help. Mainly because we are not used to it any more (you find medications rests in the drinking water, milk, etc), partly because the way it is manufactured is not the right one and the herbs lost a big part of their power. How much healing power a person needs also depends on the person (life style, food, other medication, stress, etc). A food supplement is something that won't cure anything it's just a supplement which you can find in your food as well unless you do not eat healthy enough. But even with not eating healthy it's very hard to get a lack of food supplements. Unless.. your body is not able to get it out of the food and you need to take it more frequently a day. Sorry but I don't believe 1 word about just taking once a day a supplement that will cure you completely. If that would be the case not so many people world wide were suffering from so many diseases. BTW I am taking 2 times a day kelp tablets (8 at once 500 mu! which is iodine). Many people say with only 1 tabl. they loose weight. I can tell you I did not loose 1 gramm during all these months I am taking them. Same with my son (2 tabl a day) and other daughter (2-4 a day). It does work for me (partly) to help against skin infections but not completely.

well, i guess it really depends on the supplements you use. there's also some supplements that won't suit your condition. better consult the doctor first before using such.

I'm taking black cumin seeds regularly. That's about the only natural supplement I take. They come in tablets or syrup; but I buy the seeds and grind them myself before taking it as is or with some orange juice.

i've also heard of black cumin seeds. i would prefer eating and preparing the plant itself than buy the manufactured ones.
