So it's Valentine's Day today and schools are celebrating it like crazy. In the school where our kid goes, they are all required to wear any clothes with something red in it, then the kids are asked to bring heart-shaped snacks. Isn't that crazy? Parents scurried everywhere looking for heart-shaped snacks. We were only able to buy a pack of heart-shaped marshmallows to be shared with all the classmates. Red t-shirts and also mugs are part of the Valentine's fever. Flower shops, candy stores, balloons, 's heart-shaped objects are in demand around Valentine's Day.

That seems to be the way of holidays now. The commercial aspect, rather than their actual meanings, like celebrating family and friendship and such. Even American thanksgiving has the huge Black Friday sales! Which are less profitable than other holidays of course, but still major sales happen.

Blah, I went into the supermarket today and had to wait ages to be served, this oldish guy in front was buying oysters, er, I wonder why LOL. There were valentines cards and flowers, all marked up because of today. No valentines cards for me, no surprise, just got a nasty brown envelope with bad news in, great timing NOT!

Someone in the house received a bunch of artificial roses with chocolates in each flower. That's a lot of sugar! And there's more additional garbage everywhere.

That sounds a bit too much, to be honest. We helped our son make valentine's for his friends but having to find heart shaped snacks would mean that the entirety of the snack would end up being cookies and other sweets, I think.

Well, business people likes holidays and celebrations like bookshops selling heart shaped stuff toys and lots of chocolates and roses. It's peak season for them. I don't want to celebrate Valentine's but it's my father's birthday so I need to celebrate it. Holidays are crazy, as long as I have lots of money I can have my own special holiday anytime I want.

Yes it is crazy the way everyone is going crazy on valentines. My husband sent flowers to work for me. It was so sweet, and then i saw how much he spent on them. $75 for a dozen roses in a nice vase. He used to deliver flowers to all the shops about 15 years ago, and he said he would make over 30,000 in just 1 day. That is just crazy, (but seeing the price on these flowers that will die in a week), I should not be that shocked. :) Happy Valentines Day.

I agree. And businesses are taking advantage of this day to make lots of sale and do lots of business. Sometimes I even wonder if the way they price chocolates and flowers on this day cannot be considered as robbery. But then again on the part of the business owners, they say that this is the only time of the year aside from Christmas that they get to really make profits.
