A Decision Needs To Be Made!,(Boy Scouts Of America)

The BSA (Boy Scouts of America) seem to be in quite a dillema! as many of you may be aware of, they are and always have been a Christian organization who as of this date held a strict policy of not allowing gays to join they're organization. Now,for whatever reason (possibly political, since President Obama suggested and encouraged them to allow gays to join)they must make a decision whether or not to allow them in. My question is, do you believe they should not discriminate and allow gays to join? or should they hold tight to their policies and not allow any outside influence to sway their decision? Also,do you think President Obama (knowing they're a Christian organization) should have encoraged or even suggested they change their policy?

Should men be allowed to compete in women's athletic events? Why not? You are discriminating. Can I come and live in your home? Are you discriminating? Can a girl tell a man she doesn't want to date him? Isn't that discriminating? We have a concept call freedom of association. It means that we have the right to choose not to have anything to do with whatever person who desire to not associate with. Further, religious persecution is not permitted in this country, and that includes religious standards like being gay. The BSA should not change their policy. Nor should they be encouraged to do so.

I totally agree with you and i also think the President should have stayed out of it. His opinion carries a lot of weight and this is probably why they felt pressured to make a decision and bring it to a vote.i just hope they don't cave in to any pressure put upon them and be true to their values.

That is nothing more than your opinion. He put unneeded pressure on an organization who's policies were initiated decades ago.

What garbage. Oh so if I become honorary anything, I can dictate policies of whatever it is? No sorry. BSA is a Christian organization, with Christian values, and Obama or anyone else can take their BS and shove it.

I think that every organization has their right to accept or not whoever they want as one of their members. But organizations change with time so it might be a good idea if they asked their members what they think about this issue. THey could have a referendum of sorts. Christianity has nothing to do with it as different institutions understand the Bible in different ways. I didn`t know about Boy Scouts being son Christian. Does that mean that they will not accept amuslim boy there?

I agree that mambers should be asked thier opinion on whether to alow gay people or not and from what i've learned the Boy Scouts are now (probably due to the Presidents suggestion) voting as to wheteher they should change their policy or not As far as Christianity having notyhing to do with this issue, i disagree, since the Scouts do represent themslves as a Christian organization and it is for this very reason they chosenot to allow gays to join. As far as whether they allow muslims into their organization,i really don't know and would be interested to find out if they do.

BTW, would you feel better if i said they are a religous oriented group instead of Christian which most Scouts are? and then ask yourself this question (doubt you will) if it were not for there religous beliefs and standards why else would they not include gay members or leaders into their organization? the answer is as plain as day but you would probably just call it "bigoted and narrow minded" for no reason at all.

I think national organizations should make an effort to be inclusive. I don't think it's very Christian to discriminate against others - I was always taught to treat others as I would like to be treated and not to judge others. So I don't understand why it has become a Christian value to judge other people.

Since the Boy Scouts are a Christian organization, they most likely follow the Bible's teaching stating homoseuality is a sin.and wheteher you or i believe they are passing judgement, they do have the right to follow the teachings of their religion and no one especially the President of the U.S should suggest or encourage them to go against their religous beliefs.

I think Obama's heart is in the right place, My boys were in scouts. I think they should be allowed, you would probably ntto ever hear of a problem with them.
