Have you ever had a health disaster just before a trip?

My friend is off on Friday to Italy for a skiing vacation. Sadly on Wednesday a filling came out of her mouth. Straight after the dance class she had to rush off to see her dentist. In Australia I had that same thing happen when I was eating. When I got to Sydney I went to the library to look in the Yellow Pages. I booked an appointment at a dentist to put a new filling in.

Well I had a health disaster during a trip which rather spoilt my weekend away, my partner and I had booked a long weekend to Prague as it happens and I got food poisoning, and I had to stay in bed for most of the weekend, it was such a waste, I did manage to see a little of Prague but I felt real bad, there's nothing worse than feeling ill when you are in a different country!

This is quite embarrassing. But for this discussion's objective, here goes. hahaha... 2 weeks before I went to Jakarta and Yogyakarta, I had boils. A week before it was gone but it reappeared after a day. Luckily, it was healing 2 days prior my travel. I was so anxious that it might return during the trip. And luck was on my side again when it didn't appear but my movements were so restricted because I don't want it to reappear again while I am out. And the worst of them all is that I wasn't able to enjoy the swimming pool of the hotel I stayed in because I was afraid that I might infect the others. hehehe... Anyways, the trip went well without the boils but when I arrived in Manila, I had them again. hehehe...

I got the wrong shoes and my feet were bleeding. So most of the cruise, I was hobbling. I have not had any trouble with fillings though.

in 1985 my mom took me and my sister up to New Jersey... While there, on the 3rd of July, my sister had a filling come out. We were on our way to see my father's brother's widow and her new family. After we arrived we were standing around when I heard "Mom," her new husband wanted his kids to call her Mom, "don't forget I have a dentist appointment tonight." Dentist? I thought. DENTIST! I started trying to get my mom's attention at that point. Long story, short, my sister got into this appointment and got a new filling. Why was this dentist working evenings on the night before a U.S. holiday? Well, he worked in Atlantic City but lived in Egg Harbor and was taking appointments in Egg Harbor to both supplement his income and help those who didn't want to drive into the big city....

I got what seemed to be the norovirus right as we got to Las Vegas. We arrived late in the eve, and by the early A.M it was horrible. I stayed in my room all day. I did not feel much better by the next day. I had missed out on all we had planned, and we were off to our next destination.

Some years ago my ex-boyfriend and I were to going to visit Spain. We went to airport in Copenhagen. We arrived early so we decided to get something to eat before the flight. During the meal I lost a filling. It was a really bad time. If it had happened a few days earlier I would been able to get it fixed before we left for Spain, but when it happened we were already at the airport so I wasn't able to book a dentist appointment immediately. Before our interrail trip in 2010 I got ill. The day before we were going to leave I didn't feel well, and it turned out that I had caught the flu. We had already booked the train tickets all the way to Greece and we had paid for the first night at the hotel in Greece so we decided to travel anyway. I didn't enjoy the first part of the trip because I was ill, and I didn't see much of Greece and Bulgaria. When we arrived in Romania I started feeling better, and the rest of that trip was great.

Right before my husband and I took the kids on their first vacation ever my husband was throwing up and sick as a dog. We still went because he insisted he didn't want to ruin their trip but he was miserable most of the time there. I felt so bad for him but he wanted them to have fun. Before that day he wasn't sick at all so it was really strange. We were glad the kids had a great time though!

I've just only had a health disaster during a trip. I got diarrhoea while I was in Egypt, despite I was really cautious about what I ate or drank there.
